Yea, the Mrs read that to me the other night. Even better than the review of the Grand Forks Olive Garden.
I didn't particularly care for the Olive Garden review, but this review was great. I enjoy an expensive meal here and there, so it's interesting (and somewhat terrifying) to read about such a bad experience.
It's actually kind of fascinating that a place that high profile could serve food so bad. The food business is not an easy place to succeed and generally to get that kind of recognition, you have to work pretty hard. I feel like there has to be some kind of story behind the story, like whoever was in charge of the kitchen that night was on his way out and leaving one last screw you, or the kitchen in total was protesting their wages, or everyone got shitfaced before work, or something. If you check out their Yelp reviews, there's no real indication that the restaurant is anything other than wonderful. And typically when people pay that much for their food, they're pretty critical if it.
There’s a little gilt here and there, to remind us that this is a room designed for people for whom guilt is unfamiliar.
Zesty.
There have been 220 school shootings in the United States since 2013, according to Everytown for Gun Safety. The group reported that, on an average day in the United States, seven children and teenagers ages 19 or under are killed with guns.
There were 48 school shootings in the United States in 2016, an average of just under one incident a week, according to statistics compiled by Everytown for Gun Safety. The shooting in San Bernardino is the 12th in 2017.
Didn't see any other commentary on this, but... the Twins better not get sick because of Boston (and Detroit).
“Clubhouse” is a nice way to refer to these big team areas, but they’re essentially locker rooms. And with all the players using this one locker room it’s not hard to imagine how the flu got around.
Just in case any readers were operating under the assumption that there was a tree house somewhere inside Comerica Park filled with comic books for players to read while hiding from Mom.
The president's press secretary asserted today that Hitler didn't sink to the level of using chemical weapons in World War II. When asked to clarify, he said well he used them in "Holocaust Centers" but he didn't just drop bombs in the middle of town.
Press Sec. on Hitler/Assad comments: "He was not using the gas on his own people the same way...he brought them into the Holocaust centers." pic.twitter.com/mO9EsWM4QT
I am so confused why anyone would ever think that bringing Hitler into a conversation in any way, shape or form is a good idea. There has to be a better comparison/example to use in pretty much any situation.
On the first day of Passover, it's nice to see that the White House Press Office is so prepared to answer questions that might relate to the Jewish experience.
I made this same observation elsewhere today. The speaker never comes off looking good.
I'm dying at the fact he was given multiple attempts to clarify himself, and just kept digging deeper.
KAT has been putting up huge number and Ricky Rubio has been playing brilliant basketball, but the Timberwolves are still losing game like they did when Ricky Davis and Randy Foye were patrolling Target Center.
With that basket, Towns has passed Kevin Love (2010) for tops on the franchise single-season leaderboard.
Its not like the franchise have been filled with prolific scorers in its run.
Heck, only 5 players have crossed 1800 points in a season: KAT, Love, KG (x4), Tony Campbell, Wiggins.
Rhu_Ru, I take back what I said the other day about Southwest--I would definitely rather fly Southwest than United Scarelines.
How any group of people can turn that situation into a violent conflict is beyond me. If you don't want to pay more money for volunteers to get off the plane, and someone refuses to leave, just tell them that they won't be able to do business with them anymore if they refuse to obey instructions, then go to the next person on the list. I can't believe that anyone would place blame on the other passengers in this scenario--they had no reason to expect that the airline would resort to violence because no one would volunteer to get off the plane. It's a 4.5-hour drive anyway, they didn't need to fly the crew to Louisville.
I've read that yes they did have to fly them due to union contracts.
So charter a plane, then.
or just offer more goddamn money. What United did was inexcusable. They had plenty of room to offer more compensation before going to "random" selection of passengers to remove.
According to their CEO, the employees were given no choice.
I love that phrase. It absolves them of all responsibility.
I like how SWA will hold a plane many times for connecting passengers; annoying at times until you happen to be one of those connecting passengers.
I can't believe United didn't deal with the overbooked situation prior to boarding.
On SWA's part, it probably also means they are pretty aggressive about allowing short layovers, so the occasional short wait could still be a net benefit if most can't fly nonstop.
As for dealing with it prior to booking, I feel like even after you make that mistake, you have legitimate ways out of the situation without resorting to assault. What business wants to put the rest of their customers through an experience like that? Even if watching someone get dragged through the aisle isn't a bad enough experience, everyone had to de-plane so they could stretcher the man off the plane after he managed to re-board. As cramped as planes are, they're probably lucky no one else got hurt during the altercation.
There are certain (really rare) instances where force would be necessary, but OMG this was not one of them.
Seen on Zee's FB page:
Pepsi: That had to be the worst PR move of the week, maybe year.
United: Hold my beer...
Sean Spicer: Leeeeeerooooy Jenkins!
Literal lol at that one.
yep. may you live in incompetent times.
Big news in the high school basketball coaching scene.
How many winnable games can one team throw away down the stretch in one season? I'm flabbergasted. As good a coach as Thib allegedly is, one has to wonder WTF?
With Wolves starters logging more mins than any other team, I think a lot of the "big leads" the Wolves had was just smoke and mirrors. In the middle parts of the game, the Wolves starters are playing against backups. Then, when the other team's starters get back in the game for the fourth quarter, the Wolves' starters don't have anything left for the fourth quarter. It's like a race driver being upset at running out of gas just before the end of a race because he was winning. Except he doesn't acknowledge that the reason he was leading was because he was driving around the track while the other drivers were putting fuel in their tanks.
I have seen them three times in the last week. Key players were getting appropriate rest in the third and early fourth. They just played poor basketball down the stretch (bad possessions, turnovers, missed shots and lousy defense).
And remember, their core guys are all young. Being out of gas is implausible.

This is possibly the greatest restaurant review I've ever read.

Apparently Bob Probert's widow spread some of his ashes in the penalty box at Joe Louis. So appropriate.
