Tonight's Indians-Twins game postponed
Rescheduled as part of split doubleheader on June 17
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins' scheduled game against the Indians on Wednesday night at Target Field has been postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Saturday, June 17.
Wild Gamelog anyone?
False Hope / Grasping at Straws
Of the 184 NHL teams that have fallen into the 3-0 hole, just four have gone on to win their series.
The team to most recently and most notably escape a 3-0 deficit was the 2014 Los Angeles Kings. The Kings fell behind on the road against the San Jose Sharks in Games 1 and 2, where they were defeated handily by scores of 6-3 and 7-2. When the series shifted back to L.A., they lost again in overtime.
Watching Nashville take it to Chicago reminds me that, in the playoffs, even good teams sometimes lose. Even so, I wouldn't mind a few more Wild games, and it's not like I've been disgusted by their effort or play.
Watching.
Some of their play has been frustrating though...
That bump... Still good, but I'd be mad as a Blues fan.
GOAL!!!!!! About damn time. It was getting annoying to watch another period in which they completely dominate the play with nothing to show for it. Maybe they can lure the Blues out of their rope-a-dope strategy here.
Rope-a-dope
Yup. I am constantly wondering how the Blues aren't getting called for interference/holding. But man, their defensemen look good.
Allowing the Wild constant possession, but funneling all offense to the boards while completely clogging any space in front of the goal has proven to be extremely effective. It's almost like Mike Yeo knew that most of the Wild forwards have nothing but finesse and need open space to be dangerous.
Judging by the last months, Yeo wasn't the only one,
This is just Yeo's system. Did the same thing when he coached the Wild. They were always getting outshot and still winning games.
About time they got a power play... now they need to look better on it.
And another one! This has been constant, so it's nice to see the calls. But holy cow are they bad at entering the zone.
Yes!
That goal on Allen is not something we've seen this series. Huge.
Allen has been so annoyingly ridiculous this series. Wasn't expecting that.
He has been, but I've seen far far too many replays of Blues D-men swatting pucks away that would have been easy shots a quarter second later. I give them more credit than Allen.
Didn't see Game 3 so much, but he was nuts that first game especially.
I'll give ya game 1, certainly. I don't mean to take away too much from Allen (despite that being almost exactly what I wrote above...), just that I mean to also give credit to the D.
I always give credit to the D ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Nice to see the Wild turn the tables on the Blues and score on one of their few chances in the period.
Open ice in front of the goal! Where did that come from?!
Blues pushing. It kind of suggest that if the Wild had managed a lead at any other point in the series, maybe everything is very different?
Right, they're finally having to take chances and come out of their shell.
GOAAAAALLLL!!!!!
There's that space again! This bodes well (even if Zucker didn't convert)
I really like how disruptive the Wild are being with the Blues' passing game.
A 2-goal lead feels gigantic in this series. The Blues scored 3 goals in only 1 game and that third one came on an empty net.
no 2 goal lead ever feels gigantic
If Coyle's stick didn't break in OT, Wild would most likely only need to protect a 2-goal lead for 20 minutes to tie the series 2-2.
I have watched a fair amount of this series, and a lot of hockey in my lifetime. I would summarize the series so far as:
1) Allen has been zoned in for the Blues. Standing on his head
2) Wild are playing ok. Not bad, not awesome, but just fine. Bad puck luck, and a great goalie effort across the ice. It happens. No effort issues that I see.
3) I will take Bruce hockey over Yeo hockey every stinkin day.
4) Is Dubnyk finally... finally getting h... o....t... again?
You know waaaaaaay more hockey than I do, so I'll ask you...
I'd observe that it seems like the Wild (I'm thinking Nino in particular) take extremely long shots as soon as they cross the line, instead of driving in a little more. It seems like a bad idea to my uneducated eye... yes? No? It also seems like they far too often post guys very low, almost at the side of the net instead of in front of it. This also seems like a bad idea to me... Your takes?
take your shot wherever you can get it. hanzal just scored from a spot I thought he should not have shot from. they know.
shot from the point. screen the goalie. shot from deeper in the zone, play the sides for the rebound.
I guess I feel like I'm seeing, specifically, a "first guy across the line" (so no screen) when there's a few strides left before the defense. I dunno... I guess at least they're getting a shot off.
I'm with zooomx.2
Allen has made some saves this period. Wow.
A win is good. Delay the heartbreak for another game.
I'll take it too. Better than a full-on steep plunge into the offseason.
dido
At this point, the Blues have outscored the Wild 7-5 in the series, and one of the 7 was an empty net goal.
The Blues haven't been scoring much in this series. After getting shut out tonight, the longer they go without scoring (and especially taking the lead or even tying up a game) the more doubt will creep into their minds on their chances of getting one past Dubnyk.
2-2-1-1-1 or 2-3-2?
The former.
