Minor Details: Games of April 23

Pentecost comes a few weeks early for Dunedin, as Lachlan Wells has his first bad game.  A home run barrage supports Clark Beeker, who continues to pitch well for the Kernels.

DUNEDIN 7, FORT MYERS 1 IN DUNEDIN

Max Pentecost hit a two-run homer in the first and three home runs resulted in four runs in the third, giving the Blue Jays a 6-0 lead.  The Miracle got their lone run in the eighth as the result of an error.  Fort Myers had six hits and drew four walks, but went 1-for-11 with men in scoring position.

Lachlan Wells had his first bad game of the season, going three innings and giving up six runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Williams Ramirez and Anthony McIver each pitched two shutout innings of relief.  Casey Scoggins was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Chris Paul was 2-for-4, raising his average to .338.  Ehire Adrianza was 1-for-5 and is now batting .400 in a rehab assignment.

CEDAR RAPIDS 11, KANE COUNTY 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels scored five runs in the second inning and were in control of the game the rest of the way.  They had three home runs in the inning:  a solo homer by Mitchell Kranson (his second) and two-run homers by Caleb Hamilton (his second) and Jermaine Palacios.  Jaylin Davis hit a home run in the fifth inning, his third.

Clark Beeker had another fine start, going seven innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts.  He has pitched at least seven innings in each of his three starts and has not given up more than two runs in any of them.  Hector Lujan struck out three in two perfect innings of relief.  Kranson was 4-for-5 with a double in addition to his home run and is now batting .367.  Palacios was 3-for-5, had five RBIs, and is batting .406.  Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-4 with a triple and is batting .300.  Hamilton was also 2-for-4.  On the other end of the scale, Ariel Montesino was 0-for-5 and is batting .086 (3-for-35).
