Jose Berrios has nothing to learn in Rochester. Niko Goodrum's two-run homer produces the winning run for the Red Wings. The Lookouts get no runs and five hits over 14 innings, but Nik Turley was awesome anyway. Eduardo Del Rosario was pretty darn good, too.

And being/was paid $10 million by the Phillies as a buyout for his option.
Could have easily said "Former ROY and NL MVP Ryan Howard" but that's just piling on.
I just mentioned it because I hadn't realized he was still playing at all, so I thought others might be interested, too.
I certainly didn't realize he was in AAA.
no kidding. what's Morneau up to now days?
The last MLB Trade Rumors post with Morneau tagged is dated 13 March 2017. Morneau participated in the WBC but seems to have not received any guaranteed offers this year.
Never heard of Turley. I guess he was a minor league signing this offseason. Was in an independent league last season. Looks like control had been his problem in the past. Decent K rates but never more than 1 per inning. Hopefully, he figured something out after getting released and this isn't just a SSS fluke. He's 27, so the Twins will probably want to move him up to Rochester pretty soon to challenge him against older players, maybe once the Twins call up a fifth starter from AAA.
I'd be fine with them doing that, but I'd also be surprised by it. Given his age and lack of success before now, I suspect the Twins look at him as roster filler, and that he's going to have to succeed for quite a while to change that opinion. Obviously, though, if he keeps pitching like this he's going to force them to do something.
It's not like the Twins were shy about calling up roster fillers the last 6 years.
I was thinking along the lines of Chris Colabello and Reynaldo Rodriguez, who were left down for a long time. But, as I acknowledged earlier, you were right and I was wrong.
