So, should smoke and mirror be the new nickname for the Buxton-Kepler outfield combination? (maybe make mirror plural when not-Grossman is in left?)
Dude, they're the real thing.
I know, that's what I'm saying. We always use that term when a Blackburn-ian pitcher gets outs, so I'm applying the term to the very real good defense that is clearly responsible for the difference in Santana's ERA and FIP.
Smoke & Mirrors is a derogatory term, and aptly applied to someone like Blackburn. I could see that term for our bullpen, maybe, but not our outfield.
One stat that is making me sad is Dozier's OBP higher than Joe's. 🙁
He's trying to co-opt the term and make it non-derogatory. You know, like "queer."
True, but then you can blame spooky for bringing the term into a Sanatana start. For the record, I don't believe that what Santana is doing is smoke and mirrors, and everything but his ERA is right in line with his career numbers. So, based on that I think its fair to apply the term to the outfield in a non-derogatory way. In other words, he's a decent to very good pitcher being made to look like a god by a rangy-ass outfield.
using "Smoke and Mirror" to highlight the defensive contributions of Buxton and Kepler becomes teh Ironies.
I kinda like it. Particularly the "Smoke" part for Buxton (Because Fast; and when he really starts hitting, we'd be all over "Smoked dat!"). It's more like Light Rail, which was used affectionately and with admiring respect (for the most part).
I think "Rauch und Spiegel" would be better then.
I'm good with that, means they couldn't possibly be evil.
very tricksy. I like it.
But how many will confuse Buxton with Neck Tat because of it?
just you.
So tall.
Hello, I've been up since 4am. TLO decided to be up, so I was up. At least I finished my book while I was rocking her.
Big Erv now has two of the top four game scores, although last night Kershaw put up the same game score that Santana did.
So, with Sano and Kepler raking, Santana dealing, and Buxton insisting on catching fly balls he has no business even chasing, how is ByungHo Park doing in Rochester?

Eric Thames had similar issues. I hear going to KBO can possibly be helpful in building confidence.
Now I'm bummed that I've only got three episodes of "Riverdale" left.
But... new "Attack on Titan" episodes are waiting on Hulu!

WHAT? Why didn't anyone tell me this!? I just finished season 2 of Into the Badlands so I need something to watch anyway.
Why didn't anyone tell me this!?
I just did. It's not the whole season: I don't recall how many episodes are out yet.
The latest season of Vikings is up, too.
Into the Badlands
I got partway through season 1 on NetFlix, but then paused for other things. I knew nothing of it (and still know nothing more than where I've watched to).
After too many times falling asleep on the couch only to be awoken during the most horrific scenes of violence, EAR asked me and I agreed to keep the graphically violent shows (except Vikings, for some reason) off the tube while she's in the room, so long as she heeds my suggestions to go to bed. So I backed off on those a bit.
I just did.
Touche. Anyway, I'm ok with there not being a whole season as long as there is something out there. I love the crap out of the first season and want more.
Season 2 of Into the Badlands just wrapped up on Sunday. But yeah, I had to wait until the kids went to bed to watch it. I love it despite the iffy acting and, if it helps with motivation at all, Nick Frost is in season 2 and he is always a joy to watch.
Anyone who cares has noticed that "Minor Details" did not show up today. It may show up later today, or it may show up tomorrow. Depends on how things go.
the Silent Majority cares, Padre.
But if you are gonna start being half-bakef with your scheduling, you are just coming down to our level.
The lights were with me, and it's up now.
Lights? Plural?
A figure of speech. There are no traffic lights in Gettysburg.
I'm hypothetically interested in chopping the first 17 seconds off of an mp3 that I have, since it's non-musical and makes a song that I want on a mix unpalatable for that mix. Anyone know how that can be accomplished?
Perhaps easier than Rhu_Ru's method:
In iTunes: Right Click track... Get Info... Options Tab. Start time, change to "0:17.00"... "OK" to Close dialog window.
Right click track again... "Create MP3 Version". (Or whichever the preferred format is, maybe AAC if you haven't changed preferences.) Wait a minute or whatever.
Play new, shorter version to make sure this edit was timed right. If not, go back to the beginning and change the "Start time".
Once satisfied with the edit, right click on new, shorter version, append "(no intro)" to track name.
Go back to longer, original edit. Right Click... Re-set start-time to "0:00.00"
I checked on my work computer that this works as well in new iTunes as it does in the old iTunes I still have at home. (Please, home computer: never die.)
This process works well for cutting the beginning or end of a track off, but it's tedious for cutting out parts of the middle.
I don't exactly recall how to combine the pieces into one track, and I don't see the option in the new iTunes here at work.
I know I've done it though, for example, to take the one cuss word out of Dave Aju's "Be Like the Sun", so I could put it on a family-friendly mix.)
Nothing that starts with "in iTunes" is easier.
iTunes - what the heck??
Just upload to audio convert with the selected start/end times and file format, and wait for the download dialog to appear, how can anything be easier?
Another option is to use an audio editor such as Audacity. If you want to do podcasts, an audio editor is required.
Thanks all! I'll give it a shot tonight. Looking less and less likely that song will make the cut anyway, but good to do all the same.
I missed this, but can confirm it's very easy in Audacity.
Well whatever Rhu's thing spit out, it wasn't a working mp3. It's possible my slow connection caused some issues there though.
U no have iTunes?
Maybe I assumed wrong. If you're not a regular iTunes user, don't just get/use iTunes solely for this.
Audacity is free and simple, as everyone has said.
I no have iTunes. I'm fairly stone-aged in my music consumption the last few years. No iPod/smart phone. Often just listening to things on youtube.
I assumed that if Phil had Audacity, he wouldn't have asked the question.
I had that on our previous computer, but for the rare and simple times I do this, it's just easier to do it in the program I'm going to have to load it into eventually.
