Minor Details: Games of June 30

A second consecutive sweep!  A pair of Rodriguezes lead the Lookouts.  A huge inning carries the Miracle as Justin Haley continues his rehab.  A pair of clutch hits give the Kernels the win.  Elizabethton gets its second consecutive extra-inning win.  The GCL Twins get all the runs they need in the first as three pitchers combine for a shutout.  Jesus Toledo pitches four shutout innings as the DSL Twins win.

ROCHESTER AT LEHIGH VALLEY

Rained out.  The two teams will play a doubleheader today.

CHATTANOOGA 5, MISSISSIPPI 3 IN MISSISSIPPI

Jonathan Rodriguez hit a two-run homer to put the Lookouts ahead 2-1 in the fourth.  LaMonte Wade's RBI single in the fifth made it 3-1.  In the seventh, an error and three more singles produced two runs to make it 5-1.  Connor Lien's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh cut the margin to 5-3.  In the ninth, a pair of two-out singles put the tying run on base, but a strikeout ended the game.

Dereck Rodriguez struck out six in 6.2 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk.  Paul Clemens struck out two in 2.1 scoreless innings.  Wade was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a walk and is batting .308.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-5 and is batting .302.

FORT MYERS 11, ST. LUCIE 0 IN FORT MYERS

This was a strange one.  It was pitchers' duel for seven innings.  In fact, it was a scoreless tie.  Then the Miracle scored eleven runs in the eighth inning!  The inning featured six singles, a three-run double by Zander Weil, four walks, two hit batsmen, and a balk.  Fort Myers batted sixteen men in the inning.  The Mets used three pitchers in the inning, none of whom were particularly effective.  Tim Tebow, in his fourth game for St. Lucie, was 0-for-2 and was hit by a pitch.  He is 5-for-11 since being called up to high-A.

Justin Haley continued his rehab by striking out two in two shutout innings.  Lewis Thorpe struck out five in 4.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and three walks.  His ERA is 1.69 with a WHIP of 0.94 and 31 strikeouts in 26.2 innings.  Michael Theofanopoulos struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings.  Sam Clay pitched a scoreless inning to make his ERA 1.82 with 42 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.  Jermaine Palacios was 3-for-5 and is batting .348.  Weil was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Brandon Lopez was 2-for-4 with a walk and is batting .385.  Kevin Garcia was 2-for-5.  Max Murphy was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .309.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, CLINTON 2 IN CLINTON

Homers by Lewin Diaz and Hank Morrison gave the Kernels a 2-0 lead in the fourth.  The LumberKings tied it in the sixth on Nick Thurman's two-run homer.  In the seventh, Cedar Rapids loaded the bases with none out.  A strikeout and a foul popup made it look like nothing might come of it, but Christian Cavaness delivered a two-run single followed by Travis Blankenhorn's two-run double to give the Kernels a 6-2 lead.  Clinton did not get a hit after Thurman's homer.

Domenick Carlini struck out seven in 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks.  Ryan Mason struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving him an ERA of 1.83 with 19 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.  Colton Davis struck out two in two shutout innings, making his ERA 2.13 with a WHIP of 1.03 and 36 strikeouts in 38 innings.  Morrison was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Diaz was 2-for-4 with a home run, his ninth.  Cavaness was 2-for-5.  Andre Jernigan made his Class A debut, going 0-for-3.

ELIZABETHTON 12, KINGSPORT 10 IN KINGSPORT (12 INNINGS)

The E-Twins won in extra innings for the second consecutive day.  The Mets led early, lead 4-0 after one and 6-3 after five.  The Twins scored three in the sixth to tie it, took the lead in the seventh when J. J. Robinson tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly, and went up 10-6 in the eight on Trey Cabbage's three-run homer.  It appeared that Elizabethton was in control, but in the bottom of the ninth Kingsport got two doubles, a walk, a triple, and a single to tie the game 10-10.  Andrew Bechtold singled home the go-ahead run in the twelfth and Jose Miranda's RBI double provided some insurance.  The Mets went down in order in the bottom of the twelfth.

Moises Gomez pitched well after the first inning, but in four innings he gave up four runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts.  Jovani Moran struck out four in 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, keeping his ERA at zero with a WHIP of 0.60 and 10 strikeouts with 0 walks in 6,2 innings.  Miranda was 5-for-7 with a home run and two doubles and is batting .364.  Bechtold was 3-for-5 with a walk and scored four times.  Rainis Silva was 2-for-5 and is batting .308.  Cabbage was 2-for-5 with a home run (his second), a walk, and four RBIs, making his average .303.  Matt Albanese was 1-for-4 and is batting .419.  Robinson was 1-for-5 and is batting .333.

GCL TWINS 3, GCL RED SOX 0 AT TWINS

Akil Baddoo and Royce Lewis opened the first with back-to-back doubles.  With two out, Victor Tademo hit a two-run homer.  And that's all the scoring there was.  The Red Sox, put two on in the fourth, loaded the bases in the sixth, and put two on in the eighth, but did not score.

Petru Balan, from Tiraspol, Moldova, made his professional debut by striking out five in four shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Jose Bermudez struck out three in three shutout innings.  Matt Jones made his season debut by striking out three in two shutout innings.  Tademo was 2-for-3 with a double along with his home run.  Colton Burns was 0-for-3 and is batting .333.  Lewis was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .313.  Jared Akins was 0-for-4 and is now hitless in nine at-bats.  Jhon Alvarez was 0-for-3 and is hitless in seven at-bats.

DSL TWINS 8, DSL ROCKIES 6 AT ROCKIES

A six-run third, which featured a three-run homer by Jesus Feliz, put the Twins up 7-0.  They then saw the Rockies score three in the fifth, one in the sixth, and two in the seventh to cut the lead to 7-6.  They had the tying run on second with two out, but a fly out ended the inning.  In the eighth, Feliz led off with a double and scored on a Cesar Salazar single to make it 8-6.  The Rockies opened the eighth with two singles and a bunt moved them to second and third with one out, but a strikeout and a pop up ended the inning.  The Rockies went down in order in the ninth.
