ROCHESTER 9, SYRACUSE 3 IN ROCHESTER
Syracuse led 2-1 after two, but the Red Wings had an eight-run inning in the third to take control of the game. ByungHo Park had a two-run double, Niko Goodrum a three-run homer, and Mitch Garver a solo home run in the inning. Rochester didn't have another baserunner until the eighth, but they didn't need any.
David Hurlbut pitched six innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Alan Busenitz pitched a scoreless inning to make his ERA 2.08 with a WHIP of 0.89 and 33 strikeouts in 30.1 innings. John Curtiss gave up his first AAA run, making his ERA 1.23 with a WHIP of 0.55. Goodrum was 2-for-4 with a home run (his eighth) and three RBIs. Bengie Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with a double. Tommy Field and Engelb Vielma were each 2-for-4. Mitch Garver was 2-for-5 with a home run, his ninth. Ryan Strausborger was 1-for-4, collecting his first Rochester hit to make his average .083.
CHATTANOOGA 6, TENNESSEE 1 IN CHATTANOOGA
Andy Wilkins hit a two-run homer in the fourth to give the Lookouts a 3-1 lead. Edgar Corcino hit a two-run homer in the fifth to make it 5-1. Chattanooga added a run in the sixth.
Randy LeBlanc pitched six innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Randy Rosario struck out two in two shutout innings, making his ERA 1.85 with a WHIP of 0.82. Paul Clemens pitched a scoreless inning. Wilkins was 3-for-4 with a home run (his third) and two doubles. Corcino was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second. Jonathan Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double.
FORT MYERS 6, PALM BEACH 5 IN FORT MYERS>
The Cardinals scored four in the top of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. The Miracle came back with three in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 6-5. Palm Beach got the tying run to second with one out in both the sixth and the eighth.
Brady Anderson pitched four innings before being taken out after a rain delay. He gave up one run on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts. Michael Theofanopoulos struck out three in two shutout innings. Alex Muren struck out two in a scoreless inning to make his ERA 1.56 with 19 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. Tom Hackimer struck out two in a perfect inning to make his ERA 1.20. Mitchell Kranson hit a home run, his second. Brandon Lopez was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .351. Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .340. Max Murphy was 0-for-3 with two walks and is batting .307.
CEDAR RAPIDS 5, PEORIA 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS
The Kernels scored four in the third to break a 1-1 tie and led the rest of the way. Gorge Munoz had a two-run double in the inning. The Chiefs added a run in the eighth but did not threaten to get back into the game.
Clark Beeker pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts. His ERA is 2.71 with a WHIP of 1.01. Alex Robinson retired all four men he faced, striking out three, to make his ERA 2.84 with 51 strikeouts in 38 innings. Lewin Diaz was 2-for-4 with a double. Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-5.
ELIZABETHTON 5, JOHNSON CITY 0 IN ELIZABETHTON
The Twins scored three runs on one hit in the second and got two more on one hit in the third. Elizabethton received the benefit of four walks, two errors, two wild pitches, and a hit batsman in the two innings. The Cardinals had only one hit in the game, a two-out single in the second.
Charlie Barnes struck out seven in five shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk. His ERA is 2.53 with 13 strikeouts in 10.2 innings. Juan Gamez pitched two shutout innings to make his ERA 1.29 with a WHIP of 0.57 in seven innings. Jovani Moran struck out six in two shutout innings to keep his ERA at zero with a WHIP of 0.58 and 16 strikeouts in 8.2 innings. Mark Contreras was 2-for-4 and is batting .375. The Twins scored two in the first, but the Red Sox scored one in the first and three in the second to go ahead 4-2. It was 4-3 through three, but the Red Sox scored four in the fourth and two in the fifth to take control of the game.
Petru Balan pitched only 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on two hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Zach Featherstone pitched a scoreless inning in his season debut. Jhon Alvarez was 2-for-3. Royce Lewis was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk and is batting .324. Alex Robles was 1-for-4 and is batting .364. Jean Carlos Ariaas was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .318. DSL TWINS 11, DSL ANGELS 3 AT ANGELS
Five consecutive walks led to a five-run second for the Twins, giving them a 5-1 lead. The Angels got one back in the bottom of the second, but the Twins scored two more in the third and were never threatened.
Andriu Marin pitched six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Frandy Torres pitched a perfect inning to keep his ERA at zero.
