A personal favorite. It's humbling to think a musician as indelible as Son House very nearly was lost to listeners; he only recorded nine songs for commercial release in his prime, and the masters of them are likely somewhere in the Milwaukee River. The Lomaxes recorded some others. Those few records influenced Blind Owl Wilson, who ultimately re-taught Son House how to play his own music thirty-five years later.
Reminds me of Dougie Young, without the re-learning his own music.
As far as I can tell, his entire catalog can be found on this CD. (If you can find that.)
Recorded by the Australian equivalent of the Lomaxes.
