I threw out a first pitch once, and it was a glorious expeince after i got the ball over the plate. Nerve wracking before hand.
I was too young to know better when I threw one out. They didn't even let me go on the mound. But the throw was perfect!
I was asked to throw out a first pitch in the Northwoods League up here one day. When I showed up, the team PR lady said they double booked it. So, I walk out to the mound to discover both myself and a 12 year old girl are both throwing out pitches at the same time. Talk about nerve wracking! I did manage to not embarrass myself too much, but boy did my buddies give it to me afterwards.
This. 100X this.
Travis d'Arnaud and Asdrubal Cabrera logged some extra mileage in last night's game. d'Arnaud has never played anywhere but catcher. He didn't touch the ball until the top of the ninth.
That's great!
Its a day that ends in "y" so we get a new pitcher
Mike Berardino
RHP Aaron Slegers will start Game 2 Thursday instead of Berrios.
Well, what do you know. Aaron Slegers is the name of a pitcher within the Twins' minor league organization, and not just the barista Berardino got his morning coffee from today.
Looks like nothing's wrong with Berrios, he's just being pushed back a couple of days to take advantage of the "26th man" rule today. And I'm glad to see Slegers get a shot. I'm not super high on him, but he's been pitching well lately and I like to see guys who are doing well get a chance.
Now I'm going to tonight's game (if no rain delay), without clients, but with my son. No food left in the suite, but some beverages.
But we're only staying the first hour so we can get the last bus home.
Slegers instead of Gibson sounds like an upgrade! (And I got to eat too much food last night while watching the rain.)
Anecdote: After the ceremonial opening pitches, the grounds crew pulled the tarp over the entire infield.
One of the clients said, "How does that work? Don't they slip around on the tarp?"
But there is a place for this:
Good for you, Red Sox

Perk is back.
Did Santana's home run bounce off him first?
Another "new" pitcher!
Challenge accepted!
