I've never been a huge tweeter, but man, this presidency has been great for Twitter.

ManU look scary good so far. The second Swansea pushed their fullbacks forward to try to salvage a point, ManU hit them with 3 goals.
Not sure why Chelsea let Matic go to ManU of all places, and why couldn't they sign Lukaku?
Might be a long season for The Blues.
Oh and the move of most EPL games to NBC Sports Gold sucks. Before I could watch any game I wanted on NBC Sports Extra through Apple TV, which if you want to see Watford or West Ham, is usually the only way to see em. Although given their very early season results might be for the best.
OTOH, I completely agree because I loved the ability to watch every single game. OTOH, I guess I can't fault NBC for making something amazing and then trying to extract some money out of it.
Oy. I was joking last night about what timing record he had set, not realizing it WAS the "home to home" record.
I'm not much for this current uniform set, but those reds look nice with Bux's high blue sox with the red stripes.
This year, Miguel Sano has 13 more HRs (28) than doubles (15). I find that very odd so I looked at his career stats: 54 doubles, 71 home runs.
In his career, I've seen him hit 12 doubles in person... and 4 homers. That's especially weird.
Bonds and Aaron both have more home runs than doubles. Pujols has barely more doubles than home runs. Looking at the list of players with more home runs than doubles and it's filled by home run hitters. When you have a lot of power, most of your doubles instead land over the fence.
As a lifelong Twins fan, I am intrigued by this "home run hitter" concept.
See "Killebrew, Harmon".
Lifelong for him, not you 😀
I do have that veteran experience.
or maybe "see Thome, Ji-Jim"??
Or even "Morneau, Justin".
I would actually say that Morneau sort of illustrated the difference between a "power" hitter and a "home run" hitter. He hit plenty of home runs, but he hit lots of doubles and just a lot of hits in general.
It's not a popular opinion, but I think sabermetrics underrated him.
My parents didn't know each other when Harmon retired 😆
My point is that the Twins haven't had many boppers in the last 25 or so years (Thome and Morneau and Hrbek. Maybe Willingham? I missed out of the Gaetti/Bruno glory years)
Dozier's 42 is tied for 7th best in Twins' history. Willingham's 35 in 2012, Morneau's 34 in 2006, Cuddyer's 32 in 2009, Hunter's 31 in 2006, Morneau's 31 in 2007, and Morneau's 30 in 2009 are the other 30+ seasons since 2000 (all ranking in the top 32 in Twins' history).
I used to joke that Twitter would cause the end of civilization as we know it. It doesn't seem as funny now.
Looking at Buxton's stats since July 1 and I'm really liking the trend. One obvious area for improvement is BB/K. He's got 22 strikeouts and just 9 walks in July/August. But he's hitting like a fiend in that time frame with a .360 BA, .975 OPS and a .443 BABIP, so for now the lad can swing away all he wants as far as I'm concerned.
22 strikeouts in 99 PA is right in line with his K rate in the minors.
What about walks? I have to think his BB rate in the majors will improve as his hitting improves.
His walk rate in the minors was 10.4% compared to 7.33% overall in MLB. His strikeout rate in the minors was 21.1% and overall in MLB it's 32.2%. This year he's at 8.9% and 29.1% respectively.
He is walking at a career high 8.9% . MLB average is 8.1% (dont know about minor leagues)
Last night's game upped is rWAR by three runs to 3.3. Santana stayed at 3.8 rWAR. The best player on the 2017 Twins could end up being Buxton. He's already the best position player by now 0.7 rWAR.
Over the years my animosity towards particular teams has been diminished and I find myself rooting for different teams nearly every year. More than anything I love watching great teams and great players. I am rooting for the Dodgers to win 117 games even though I don't particularly have fondness for anyone on the team besides Clayton Kershaw and Rich Hill. Retroactively I like that 1998 Yankees team despite the fact they annoyed me at the time.
I'm also in a weird spot for the AL wild card. Obviously I'm rooting for the Twins to get it. And I have no interest in the Yankees nabbing the final spot. But I find myself rooting for both the Mariners (because Felix) and for the Angels (because Trout/Simmons) despite my loathing for Scioscia. In fact when something happens like the Dodgers sweeping the Twins or Trout hitting a homer off a Twins pitcher, I don't feel annoyed or anything. It's weird.
I'm more than willing to root for history to happen in baseball (Yanquis mostly excepted). Even the Bitch Sox, as long as they don't stay good too often.
Re: "Camp Coffee with Chicory" in today's banner.
I was on assignment for a couple of months at a Control Data facility in Streetsville in Mississauga back in the 80's. I remember that the coffee we got had chicory in it. It smelled great, but tasted horrible.
Cleaning out my mother-in-law's childhood home I picked up an old cast-iron pan that is... probably very very old, based on where it was stored. Seems like it'll work just fine... Quite nice.

Buxton's inside-the-parker is the Statcast of the Day.

Yes.
C'mon. You know you want to do goat yoga.
