  1. Of course the volcano on Bali is going to erupt 5 hours before my daughter's flight is supposed to leave. All I want in the world right now is to get my girl home safe.

  2. I loved Badfinger's music riding on the school bus as a kid; never knew their back story. Pretty darn sad. Managers suck.
    I also learned that besides singing "Come and Get It" (McCartney), "No Matter What", "Day After Day", and "Baby Blue", they also wrote "Without You" that Nilsson made famous.

  5. By the way, for those of you who don't read "Off-Season's Greetings" (although you all should), Delmon Young is playing in Australia this winter. He's only thirty-two.

  6. Gophers hoops playing Alabama and there was a fight and all of Alabama's bench came out on the court. So they got all ejected. Now Bama dude got 5 fouls. Literally its 5 on 4 for 11 more minutes.

        1. They win. Pitino is going to get ripped by a lot of fans for the game getting close and the Gophers being outscored while having a 5-on-3 advantage. But really, I respect for choosing not to embarrass his opponent. He let Alabama stay in it and they made a few crazy shots that kept hope alive and the Gophers got very timid at the end. They should have gotten 2/3 of the rebounds on each end. Either the Gophers got timid or Pitino is a genius for daring Big Ten opponents to play 3-on-5 for an entire game.

          1. I agree with the sportsmanship. Gopher still cant defend the three even having a two man advantage !

  7. Now that the season is done and reflecting back....unless PJ Fleck and crew was holding back on play calling, I think its going to be a long road for everyone. Yes injuries were a huge thing but good coaches take mediocre players and "coach em up" and put players in positions to succeed. I saw nothing in the offense that said "we are going to out scheme you". It was super vanilla offense and thats being generous. They had a 6 foot 10 inch tight end and never utilized that advantage. They decided to pass the ball 25 times at Northwestern when it was windy and rainy. I just never got what they were trying to accomplish .

    I hope Fleck is not Brewster 2.0, but to me its looking that way.

    1. I did not attend the U, so don't have the affection for the program, but, man!, I would love to see the sports programs run from a place of secondary-importance. The idea that they gave an extension to the coach because they were afraid of losing him... Ugh. If the money being spent weren't so substantial, I could stomach it. No need to hire Saban or anyone like that. But the middle and lower tier coaches too. So. Much. Money. Spent on losing. I could coach them to losses for a lot less money!

  8. Since I don't think it gets nearly the love it should, despite being the best part of the bird, I wanted to give a shout out to the turkey oyster. I ate one of them on Thursday and had the one from the their bird tonight. I had my wife and daughter try a small piece and both mistakenly thought it was too fatty. The good news is that means they are all mine forever.

    1. Huh, I've googled 'too fatty' in foodsafe mode and can't seem to find any results. I'd hate to call your wife and child liars, but...
