Holidazzled

Twin Citians, take note: I took the boys to Holidazzle at Loring Park yesterday, and we had a wonderful time. There's plenty to do for kids and adults (free skating w/free skate rental, a play area, interactive sculptures) as well as a nice selection of food and drink (including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cider from Sociable Cider Werks and a heated Fulton beer tent) and craft vendors. We were there during the afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. I'm pretty sure we'll be making another visit before the season's end.

  1. On the way to St. Cloud for the hockey game last night, we stopped at the Lupulin Brewery in Big Lake (brown ale and Belgian dubbel, mmmm). We got there in time to catch the last few rounds of the IBF super middleweight title fight. The place was packed and a bunch of people were wearing Team (Caleb) Truax shirts. He's from Osseo, used to work at the MGM liquor store in Champlin, and last night he won the title. Also, #2 in the nation SCSU beat UND, 3-1. It was a really fun night for an old fart who doesn't get out much.

    1. I tried arguing that point on a card collector blog, but I was confronted with Wins and Panty Waists Never Throw More Than Five Innings Nowadays Getoffmylawn.

      1. and only getting 7/16 votes is dumb.

      1. Yea, Whitaker is deserving.

And I know I am preaching to the choir here, but Morris ranks 164th all-time on JAWS for pitchers. One-hundred sixty fourth.

        Radke ranks 141st. Frankie V 111th. Johan 86th. Luis Tiant 52nd. Koosman 104th. Kaat 107th. Kenny Rogers 120th. Big Sexy, 146th. Camilo Pascual 151st.

    2. Morris had less rWAR than Johan despite Morris pitching nearly twice as many innings. That would be awful if Johan dropped off the ballot this year because most (all?) people voted before the Veterans Committee results came out because Johan just got a great boost to his argument for going into the HoF.

      1. Gotta think Mike Mussina and Curt Schilling will feel the after effects on next years ballot (assuming they dont get in this year)

    1. 'W' against the worst team in the conference ... and just barely.
'W' and the loser point for the Wild in OT after a terrible 3rd period (outshot 18-3!!!).
      ... well, okay then.

    1. I am fully prepared to say that Wiggins is basically a bust and that max contract is looking pretty bad. He's, to this point in the season, managed to have a lower TS% and WS/48 that the previous year two years in a row. Woo!

        1. I think that comparison has been made around here before, and its a good one. I similarly find watching Wiggins play as difficult as I found watching Young play.
