VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Willians Astudillo (Anzoategui) was 0-for-5.  Gregorio Petit (Caracas) 0-for-3.

CARACAS 4, ANZOATEGUI 3 IN CARACAS

Caracas scored two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.  Anzoategui had the tying run on third with two out in the ninth.  Ramon Cabrera was 2-for-3 with a home run.  For Anzoategui, Balbino Fuenmayor was 4-for-5 with a home run.

Caracas leads the series 1-0.

LARA 6, MAGALLANES 1 IN LARA

Lara scored two in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead.  Ildemaro Vargas was 3-for-5 with a double.  Jorge Martinez pitched six innings, giving up one run on seven hits and striking out four.  For Magallanes, Ronny Cedeno hit a home run.

Lara leads the series 1-0.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

JALISCO 4, NAVOJOA 3 IN NAVOJOA

Jalisco scored two in the first and two in the second to take a 4-0 lead, then held on.  Navojoa had the tying run on second in each of the last three innings.  Yordanys Linares was 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run, driving in three.  Tyler Alexander struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs on five hits.  For Navojoa, Alan Sanchez was 3-for-4 with a double.  Paul Leon was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Jalisco ties the series 1-1.

CULIACAN 5, MEXICALI 4 IN MEXICALI

Sebastian Elizalde's two-run single for Culiacan tied it 4-4 and Joey Meneses singled in the lead run in the ninth.  Elizalde was 3-for-3 with a walk.  Meneses was 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and three RBIs.  For Mexicali, Miguel Pena pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks and striking out two.

Culiacan leads the series 2-0.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

GIGANTES 6, ESCOGIDO 5 AT GIGANTES (12 INNINGS)

Matt Hague homered in the ninth for Escogido to tie it 5-5, but Anderson Feliz singled home the winning run for the Gigantes in the twelfth.  Leury Garcia was 3-for-6 for the Gigantes.  For Escogido, Matt Hague was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run.  Ronny Paulino was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was 1-for-6 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Aaron Whitefield (Brisbane) was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.  Todd Van Steensel (Sydney) faced three men, walking one and hitting two.

CANBERRA 13, ADELAIDE 9 IN CANBERRA

Canberra scored five in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie.  David Kandilas was 3-for-5 with a double.  Jay Baum was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his sixth.  Casey McElroy was 2-for-5 with a double and a home run, his third.  Buddy Reed was 2-for-5 with a home run, his sixth.  For Adelaide, Rodrigo Ayarza was 4-for-5 with a double and a triple.  Angus Roeger was 2-for-4 with two two-run homers, his third and fourth.  Bas Nooij was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, his third.

BRISBANE 23, MELBOURNE 6 IN BRISBANE

it was 10-4 after three innings.  Brisbane then scored five in the fifth and eight in the seventh.  Brisbane hit eight home runs.  David Sutherland hit three of them, going 4-for-6 and driving in five.  The home runs were his third, fourth, and fifth.  Andrew Campbell was 4-for-6 and scored five times.  Chih-Sheng Lin was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his sixth and seventh) and six RBIs.  Aaron Whitefield was 3-for-4.  Adam Weisenburger was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his fifth.  Jake Turcato was 1-for-2 with a home run.  Daniel Nilsson was 1-for-4 with two walks and a home run.  For Adelaide, Craig Maddox was 3-for-4 with a home run.  Darryl George was 2-for-4 with a home run, his sixth.  Tyler Neslony was 2-for-5 with a home run, his fifth.  Brisbane has scored fifty runs in its last three games.

PERTH 8, SYDNEY 7 IN PERTH (10 INNINGS)

Trailing 6-4, Perth scored two in the ninth to tie it.  Sydney scored once in the top of the tenth.  Using the goofy "start with men on first and second" rule, Perth scored two in the bottom of the tenth on a walk and two hit batsmen to win the game.  Robbie Glendenning was 3-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a walk, driving in three.  Alex Boshers pitched six innings, giving up two runs on eight hits and striking out three.  For Sydney, Max Brennen was 4-for-5.  Chih-Hsien Chiang was 3-for-5.  Alex Howe was 2-for-4 with a home run.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-1 with a three-run homer (his second) and a walk.

SANTURCE 3, CAROLINA 2 IN SANTURCE

Robert Andino's RBI double in the seventh broke a 2-2 tie.  Yadiel Hernandez was 3-for-4.  Adalberto Flores pitched seven innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out three.  For Carolina, Giovanni Soto struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs on five hits.

CAGUAS 5, MAYAGUEZ 4 IN CAGUAS

Mayaguez took a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth, but Rusney Castillo homered in the bottom of the ninth to tie it and Johnny Monell doubled home the winning run later in the inning.  For Caguas, Castillo was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.  David Vidal was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk.  Ricardo Bautista hit a home run.  Jake Fisher pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and striking out four.  For Mayaguez, Kennys Vargas hit a pinch-hit three-run homer, his second.  Tyler Herron pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk and striking out one.
