Completely cleared my iPod and built it back up from scratch, in preparation for a family road trip to the Outer Banks of NC.
The kids and wife don't need the dozen hours each of Aaron Dilloway, Pan Sonic, Alice Coltrane, etc.
But I also need to be aware of content and language. (For reference: kids are ages 6-14.5)

1. First line: "She's an egocentric bitch..." Talking about her sportsmom mother. Otherwise fine. Ugh, Europeans not catering to our standards.
3. Probably tons of swearing, but it's in Portuguese.
5. Elvis Costello cover that I learned from Lydia Loveless. "Let [him] take off your party dress" is questionable.
7. The piano version of this was prelude music at our wedding.
8. I have no idea what this is.
E. Great song. Why "No f***ing doubt" though? See comment on #1.
When/where are you going? We did that trip this past summer. Not having an iPod, I burned a few select CDs for the trip, aimed at the kids. We also did an audiobook that the enjoyed.
Where in OBX did you go? (And where are you going, AMR?) We went out to Nags Head four years ago, and I’m going out again early this summer. I hear they’ve opened the Bodie Island lighthouse to climbers.
Emerald Isle, way towards the Southern/Western end.
Hatteras, the south tip of Hatteras Island. The furthest down the coast you can get from the north without getting on a boat.
Three days out, stopping in Dayton, OH, and Williamsburg, VA. Williamsburg to Hatteras isn't as much a haul, so we're going to the Colonial part in the morning.
Two days back, stopping in Dayton again. Will be the first time for everyone in WV and setting foot in OH. (We drove through Cincinnati in the dark on the drive home from SC.)
Ooh, Williamsburg is pretty fun. Good call.
Lived in Williamsburg briefly, for a few months on either side of a deployment. My wife was there (with our puppy) while I was gone, so she saw Jamestown (awesome) and Colonial with visitors numerous times.
On the move out east, part-way through WV, had a flat on the car I was towing. Pulled over to change it, and I swear those Mountaineers were drifting my way intentionally. Later that day, while stopped for gas, I was approached by a man who asked for a handout. When I declined, he then offered me _ral sex in exchange for whatever cash I had. He looked pretty rough, like he’d already been floating for days, but was obviously on his way back down. I’ve never been so grateful for the sound of a fuel pump clicking off in my life. I told him no again and vamoosed.
Long story short, I have a low opinion of that state.
We visited Jamestown on a trip down there. That was a highlight for me too.

Been listening to a band called Airbag on Youtube: think 2/3 Porcupine Tree, 1/3 Pink Floyd. Nothing jumping out at me, but pretty well done nonetheless.

Trying out some hip-hop I thought was clean tonight with the kids. Freaking one of Lateef or Lyrics Born fits both the S and F into one like of "8 Pt Agenda" (a great Herbalizer track on which they feature).
M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" probably no good: "Some some some some I murder." and the gunshots.
