I was annoyed with myself for missing the Ides of March post, but this is the heading I would've used, so que sera sera.
I'm sick today, so I'll probably watch the tournament and see how the level of play is looking this year.
I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys R' Us kid
They got a million toys at Toys 'R Us that I can play with
I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys 'R Us kid
They got the best for so much less, you'll really flip your lid
From bikes to trains to video games
It's the biggest toy store there is (gee whiz!)
I don't wanna grow up, 'cause maybe if I did,
I couldn't be a Toys 'R Us kid
MORE GAMES, MORE TOYS, OH BOY!
I wanna be a Toys 'R Us kid
I grew up pretty far from the closest Toys 'R' Us, so I don't feel any big sense of loss, but it's weird that they're going to be gone.
I think we may have a gift card or two we'll want to use in short order.
(gift cards good for 30 more days)
We lived quite a ways away from one, so the first time I went to one, I think I was 15. At that point, the magic wasn't really there.
Linds and I did go to one just last wee, actually. Found something that we'd been looking for for Newbish for quite a while, but the entire store smelled like cat pee. Not exactly the most uplifting last memory.
Toys R Us going away makes me irrationally sad. A leveraged buyout being a big reason makes me mad.
We didn't live too close to one, but made it there a handful of times each year and it was a huge deal. I could walk the videogame aisle for an hour looking at the cards for more games than I could imagine.
Going to be interesting to see what their demise does to the toy industry, they carried such a wider assortment than Target or Walmart. Amazon sells a ton of toys, but they can't replace the guaranteed money of a huge set order from a store like Toys.
They were our go-to when Runner daughter (and all her friends) were little. At this point, I'm wondering if I can snag any of their special Topps packs of baseball cards for the purple parallel cards inserted in them
R. I. P. Augie Garrido, winningest baseball coach in NCAA history, from a stroke at age seventy-nine.
I pride myself on being pretty well-versed on the Twins organization on the whole, but I have no idea who most of the players in the game for the Twins are right now against the Rays. So of course the unknowns add 3 runs to make it 8-1.
Ryan Lamarre is having such a great spring. I know there's zero chance he makes the roster, but it would be cool to see someone I saw play for the Beetles on the Twins.
Man, Pandemic Legacy Season 1 for $30 at the local Ron's Warehouse. I've got to consider pulling the trigger, even though there's basically no chance I'll be able to play it anytime soon.
Damn, that's a hell of a good deal.
Hot Snakes tomorrow, Titus Andronicus Saturday. It's going to be a fun weekend.
I’ll be at Titus. Did you know it’s going to be an acoustic show with just two members?
I knew it was acoustic, but not that it was just two folks. I'm super excited to see Rick from Pile open. I love Pile.
