What do you mean? It's only the ALCS!
oh, right, sorry. my bad.
*tugs at collar*
Thanks, hj. I enjoy doing them. I hope people enjoy reading them.
Definitely fun to read. A great feature. Despite the presence of Adam F. Kennedy.
Shhhhhh
My sister-in-law's cousin was learning about public policy. He spent the previous two off-seasons backpacking around Europe and South America, and has an engineering degree to fall back on.
Nice piece, cool family connection.
The Twins pitching staff, at least at the start of the season, is taking shape, as Alan Busenitz and Tyler Duffey go down.
Whenever I see Alan Busenitz's name, my mind always goes to Alan Dershowitz for some reason.
I'd prefer both of them to Ryan Pressly but because they have options and Pressly doesn't, they go down.
Facebook today reminded me of this comic, which is always worth sharing.
I mentioned this on the Zuck yesterday (probably the last time I post there), but thought I’d share it here, too.
Given Twitter’s descent into toxicity & Facebook’s hardcoded sociopathy, I suspect many of you are wondering where you can have meaningful, constructive conversations online. If you would like to move to a social media platform built around an ethical approach to your content, high community standards, and a free Internet, and without manipulative algorithms & follower counts, now is the time to look at Micro.blog. I backed it on Kickstarter & have been using it for over a year. The service is growing in a deliberative, inclusive way & would be enriched by the many smart, thoughtful folks here at the WGOM.
Are you saying our conversations here aren't meaningful or constructive????
Just kidding. Sounds awesome!
Well if he's not saying it, I am! 😛
Twins on ESPN2 this afternoon. But they are playing the Yankees so there might not be a lot of Twins talk.
Yankees have literally no regulars in the lineup and Twins have very few, including no Dozier, Mauer or Sano. Take that, ESPN2!
Also, the starters are Phil Hughes vs. Jordan Montgomery.
Yankees have an outfielder named Billy McKinney who hit his 5th HR of the spring, so I'm glad they've finally found an outfielder with some power...
ESPN crew loves Moya.
weird.
I like Moya! He makes Joe Nathan seem like a Buckingham Palace guard.
DeLaSalle knocked off.
In related news, it's reported that Drake's head coach is headed to Colorado State. Former DeLaSalle coach (Thorson) could be in line to take over.
Yuge upset. Opens the door for the Spamtown bunch.
The DeLaSalle kid going to the U next year is a friend's nephew.
Sounds like it is Delano and Columbia Heights.
Crap. Assuming the Pack could not handle Delano's stud pg.
Whoa, Delano ripping through Citizen's Alma Maters. Anyone from Columbia Heights to get stomped on next?
I live 12 blocks south of the Heights. Does that count?
Dag. Spanked 'em, too. Won by 12--was up 20 at one point. 29 points, 19 rebounds for Wishart.
Cougars rebounded with a win over Sauk River. Will play St Thomas Academy for the Consolation prize tomorrow.
Good for the Cougs.
It will be interesting to see whether DeLaSalle shows up for the 3rd place game tomorrow. Gotta be an ego blow to not make the finals for the first time in, what, 7 years?
Wooo! Got my official confirmation that I won my Sunday league without needing any sort of playoff game on account of going undefeated. Its not the most prestigious league we have, but its my first real league title. I plan to drink some beer tonight to celebrate.
you were going to drink some beer tonight anyway, weren't you?
Well, I mean, yeah.
Let me know when you start. I’ll have one ‘with’ you.
I had to run to the club a bit early tonight, so cheers!
Hey, alright! Gonna spray down the locker room with celebratory Malört?
I should have, that would have been a club approved way of doing it.
This is cool
Bartolo Colon pitching a spring training game against Mariners tonight. He's the last remaining active player to have played in a game in the Kingdome. These are the lineups of the first time he did it in 1997: pic.twitter.com/uXkA5P9NgB
Besides Colon, who are the 3 players in these lineups that have played for the Twins?
Thome and Sorrento are easy. Pat Borders!
Yes. Borders was the catcher when Joe Nathan blew the lead in extra innings in Game 2 of the ALDS in 2004. It was his third inning of work. The Twins have not won a postseason game since then.
So... Loyola. My sister and brother-in-law went there, so in the NCAA pool I run for my families there are actually a stupid number of people who picked them to keep winning (including 2 who have them winning it all). Usually these siblings/in-laws are towards the bottom of our standings. They're cleaning up this year.
My sister went there as well and is doing way better than usual in the standings.
We did a College visit there and Charlie almost went to Loyola and had two friends that did. I loved the campus and have a soft place in my heart for the school. I almost rode Loyola in Bracket but then I thought I was thinking with my heart and not my head and had them going down in the first round. D'oh!
Don't know why I didn't realize there was another Loyola other than Loyola Marymount.
I think there are at least 3. (CA, IL, MD)
My sister started at the one in New Orleans, but transferred to the one in Chicago.
