*Quite possibly my favorite JN song ever.

      1. god that song is depressing, but i love it too. i told a friend this after i finally paid attention to the lyrics:

when he repeats the last part, i like how it starts off as something a little kid would say to himself in a dark room, hindered by the sacrilege of it and such. however, as he continues the refrain, he owns it more and feels more justified in his anger, hence, sings it more clearly.

      2. Across the board, this is one of my favorite FMD lists ever. I hadn't listened to Sufjan for a while, and when "Romulus" came on, I thought, "oh right, this guy is really good."

  2. Right now I'm listening to the really excellent Wide Awake! by Parquet Courts while I crush through closing up cases ahead of the long weekend. I'll drop a 10 soon.

    1. There are soooo many new albums out I have to get to, that one included. Current new music spinning on the joePod: Car Seat Headrest (can't stop listening to this one), Janelle Monáe, Haley Heynderickx (h/t), The Decemberists, Hop Along, Hinds, and a couple others. So many to get to though. For example, I just heard Parliament (!) has a new album out, and it's supposed to be all kinds of crazyweird goodness. On the flipside, I hear the new CHVCHES is a let down. :'(

      1. It's been a wild couple of weeks. I've been hooked on that illuminati hotties, and the new Rae Sremmurd and Playboi Carti for a while. I finally listened to Courtney Barnett (good, but I need to give it some more time), this, and absinthe father (crushingly beautiful, but full of difficult content) yesterday. Today I think I'll check out the new Beach House, Frog Eyes, and maybe Wussy. Not going to get any less packed as we head through the summer either.

        1. Oh yeah, Courtney, Wye Oak, and the new Belly are on to get list. Forgot to mention Yazan on the listening list. I heard someone talking about the new absinthe father... oh yeah, you.
