Oh great, it's that time of year where we go on a mini-tear and we convince ourselves we shouldn't be sellers but then we fizzle out by the end of the year.

They are further out of wild card convention them they are the division, so fingers crossed?
The Twins have hit a very soft part of the schedule. They've taken advantage of it, so I give them credit for that, at least. Coming out of the break, they have three in Kansas City, three in Toronto (which always seems to be tough for the Twins (I don't know if that numbers back that up, it just seems that way to me)), and four in Boston. If they come out of that road trip still playing good baseball, then I'll start to think they might have a shot.
The problem for management, of course, is that by the time they come out of that road trip, it'll be July 29, which is getting pretty late to make a deal. So we'll see what judgment management makes.
I thought the FO did alright last year whether we were buying or selling, except for some animosity some of the players felt. Hopefully they take the same tact: to improve the team both near term and long term.
Falvey and Levine aren't going to give up on any good prospects for an outside shot at a division. Last year they were closer and they were sellers. In fact most GMs don't make bad deadline deals anymore so getting a steal is tough too.
That said, if they can make a non-crippling move for Realmuto, I'm okay with that
This.
Good God, so much for mowing the lawn when it's cooler -- the temp at sunrise was 81° (and humid, of course)
I was in Tulsa early in the week for my aunt's funeral. The temperature at graveside was 98 degrees. The humidity was more oppressive than Stalin.
Yeah, we've been sitting here at 97° again today. That said, the dishwasher is installed now. Biggest annoyance is the facades of thee cabinets stick out from the sides maybe 1/4", and I really could have used that space when
slidingshoving it back into positionWatched The Death of Stalin in-flight on the way back from Paris. Buscemi was fantastick - and Isaacs as Zhukov, awesome.
That's....about what it was at the Casa de nibbish. Didn't stop me from pushing the mower for an hour and a half.
Thankfully it's only 40min for me, and then it was dishwasher installation time. It looks great...too bad it's not working. Doesn't seem to be filling enough to do anything, so I'm guessing the pump needs priming or something.
Oh, and we topped out at 99°. It got to the 70s this evening but the popup storms totally missed us.
Byron Buxton's bad luck continues.
He got Cuddyered.
No. 1 prospect Royce Lewis was promoted to Ft. Myers. This is just his first full season in the minors after being drafted last year, which means he's ahead of the pace of Joe Mauer, who didn't get to Ft. Myers until the start of his second season. The next year, he began the season with the Twins. If Lewis starts next season at Chattanooga, he could be up to the Twins sometime midseason.

Hey, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron in Recently Seen at the MOU by Our Guy.
Not as good a record as our other guy.
Wow, cool pix.
I just saw my first Ibises last week in Besançon, France, but they were in a zoo. Scarlet and Bald Ibis, also Hornbills and Spoonbills.
On our vacation, we spent several days in Eguisheim, Alsace, and I couldn't believe how many white storks we ran into. Many of the buildings in Eguisheim had stork nests on the top of the roofs.
On a hike in the nearby Vosges (Sentheim), we passed a field where there were about a hundred of them hanging out.
For a brief moment we had a yellow crowned night heron nest outside our door. Beautiful birds, but I'm told I lucked out on their moving along as they start to smell pretty awful as the summer drags on.
