ROCHESTER 6, PAWTUCKET 3 IN ROCHESTER (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)
A four-run third gave the Red Wings a 4-1 lead and put them ahead to stay. Gregorio Petit hit a two-run single in the inning.
Juan Graterol was 3-for-4 and is batting .357. LaMonte Wade was 2-for-4 with a triple. Taylor Motter was 2-for-4 with a double. Petit was 2-for-5. Nick Gordon was 2-for-5.
Adalberto Mejia was the starter way back when and pitched one scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one. His ERA was 2.68. Michael Pineda pitched four innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks and striking out two in his Rochester debut. Nick Anderson pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.
PAWTUCKET 5, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER (SCHEDULED GAME--7 INNINGS)
Brandon Phillips hit a three-run homer in a four-run third to carry the Red Sox. The Red Wings closed to 4-3 after five but got no closer.
Willians Astudillo was 2-for-3 with a home run (his twelfth) and a double. Kennys Vargas was 1-for-1 with a two-run homer (his twentieth) and two walks. Zander Wiel was 0-for-2 in his AAA debut.
Lewis Thorpe lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks. He did strike out four. Jake Reed retired all seven men he faced, striking out five. His ERA is 2.11.
CHATTANOOGA 5, MONTGOMERY 2 IN MONTGOMERY
It was again a four-run third inning that made the difference, as the Lookouts to a 4-0 lead. The runs scored on a Brent Rooker grand slam.
Jordan Gore was 3-for-4 with a double. Luke Raley was 2-for-5 and is batting .306. Rooker was 1-for-4 with a walk and the grand slam was his twenty-second home run.
Dietrich Enns pitched five innings, giving up one run on six hits and a walk and striking out four. Sam Clay pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out one. Devin Smeltzer pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.
PALM BEACH 6, FORT MYERS 4 IN PALM BEACH
The Miracle led 4-1 after five and a half, but the Cardinals tied it in the seventh on a bases-loaded hit batsman and took the lead in the eighth with RBI doubles by Justin Toerner and Elehuris Montero.
Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-4 with a home run (his eighth) and a triple. He scored twice and is batting .303. Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-4 and is batting .373. Ernie De La Trinidad was 0-for-2 and is batting .315.
Brusdar Graterol pitched 5.2 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out four.
CEDAR RAPIDS 5, BELOIT 3 IN BELOIT
It was tied 2-2 after eight. Andrew Bechtold singled home the lead run and Michael Davis followed with a two-run homer. The Snappers got one back in the ninth on a Miguel Mercedes homer.
Davis was 1-for-3 with a walk and the home run was his sixth. Michael Helman was 0-for-5 and is batting .379.
Randy Dobnak pitched seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks and striking out five.
ELIZABETHTON 6, GREENEVILLE 3 IN ELIZABETHTON
The Twins scored five in the seventh to take a 6-2 lead. DaShawn Keirsey had a two-run single and Chris Williams had a two-run double in the inning.
Ricky De La Torre was 2-for-3 with a walk. Trevor Casanova was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .317. Keirsey was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring twice and driving in two. He is batting .305.
Luis Rijo pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks and striking out five. His ERA is 2.14.
GCL TWINS 5, GCL RAYS 4 AT TWINS
Jelfre Marte singled home a run in the eighth to give the Rays a 4-3 lead. In the bottom of the eighth, back-to-back RBI doubles by Samuel Vasquez and Alberoni Nunez put the Twins up 5-4.
Shane Carrier was 1-for-4 and is batting .412 on a rehab assignment.
Tyler Benninghoff pitched 4.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and four walks and striking out two. Casey Crosby retired all four men he faced, striking out three. His ERA is 2.08 on a rehab assignment.
DSL TWINS 7, DSL ANGELS 3 AT ANGELS
A four-run seventh put the Twins up 5-1. Brahiap Carrillo had a two-run single in the inning.
Carrillo was 2-for-3 with two walks and is batting .310. Sergio Toribio was 2-for-5 with a triple. Luis Gomez was 0-for-4 with a walk and is batting .341. Victor Heredia was 0-for-3 and is batting .338. Ruben Santana was 1-for-2 with a triple and is batting .323. Luis Milla was 1-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in two. He is batting .301.
Alex Banks pitched four innings, giving up an unearned run on five hits and a walk and striking out two. Anthony Escobar struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a walk. His ERA is 0.98.
PENNANT RACE WATCH
Fort Myers remains a half-game out of first, as Charlotte also lost.
Cedar Rapids is three games in front, leading both Peoria and Quad Cities by three games.
Elizabethton leads Bristol and Kingsport by 4.5 games.
The DSL Twins remain tied for first with the DSL Cardinals Blue.
