It's fun watching Mauer tick off the milestones.
Realistically, what do you think his future path is?

I'm surprised there hasn't been more in the media about Joe's future path, unless I've missed it. Given he had another concussion this year and his middling performance, I wouldn't be surprised if this is his last year. I don't see him as the type of guy to switch teams to chase a championship, and even if he did I don't think those caliber of teams are going to want to sign a league average first baseman. So it's whether or not the Twins want to sign him to a one-year deal. I suspect that if they do offer a one-year deal Mauer will take it in the hopes of being on an improved team.
The only thing I've seen is he won't make a decision until after the season.
I've heard LEN3 say the same thing. Also that it's like;y he'd sign up for one or two more years with the Twins.
Could be a good poll: What will Joe Mauer do next year:
Retire
Sign with another Team
Re-sign with Twins for 1-2 years
Yeah, I had originally been thinking it would be a good poll too. *checks email * One second here...
whoa, sweet!
I'm the retire vote. I wanted to be contrarian but also I've heard from a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy that Mauer is closer to retirement than has been let on. This most recent concussion changed things for Joe.
I could easily be wrong, but I don't get the sense that Mauer's ready to quit yet, and to me it makes more sense for him to stay with the Twins than to go somewhere else. That assumes the Twins want him back, of course, but I think they'd take him on a one or two year contract at a reasonable salary.
I've seen a few blurbs here and there about Mauer being good in the clubhouse, being a real leader with this particular group, etc. I would be genuinely surprised if the team didn't offer him an at-least 1 year deal.
I predict multiyear deal with options.
Joe will never play for another team. If he himself decides to walk away, or the Twins don't want him anymore, his third option is to be head coach of two young girls and a baby on the way -- he's not going to deprive himself even more than being on the home team does already.
I voted that he retires, mostly because I'm usually wrong and I'm hoping I am in this case too.
I want to be excited about the Wolves, but they want me to be excited about Wiggins. It's a quandary.
Anybody ever purchased an unlocked smart phone and done the data transfer/activation dance on Verizon?
My Galaxy S6 battery did a nose dive this week and, since it's well past 2 years old, time to replace. Looking at the S8 to replace, but noticing that I can save like a couple hundred bucks if I buy on Amazon compared to paying for it over time through Verizon. I'm just nervous about the transition.
How hard is that transition for a civilian, and what do I need to accomplish it?
I bought a new unlocked S8+, and it works great. Only annoyances are the Verizon-default apps that I had to initially override (I'm on AT&T) and the warning when I power up that I'm not on a Verizon SIM card.
Gophers have 28 freshmen on their two-deep roster. That's a lot.
How many were good enough to have been recruited by the Bison?
Let's put it this way: I don't think the Gophers want any part of this 2018 Bison squad.
They're starting QB is a walk-on. It's a great story if he ends up succeeding, but there's a reason only 1 other walk-on has started at QB in the first game for a major conference team. Other than a fumbled shotgun snap, it sounded like he played pretty well tonight, but it sounds like New Mexico St. is going to be pretty bad this year even by their standards.
The past few days I've been listening to two albums over and over again. I find it amusing they were released almost 50 years apart.
Aftermath and Blue & Lonesome?
Nah, Headquarters and Good Times!

If true, that last bit tells me a lot about why the Twins kept running him out there rather than getting Garver as many innings behind the plate as possible ... they really like Wilson a lot.
Thatβs a dirty trick to play on Gimenez, though.
I thought about that, too. What, the Cubs don't want Chris Gimenez to have a chance to play in a World Series?
I thought he'd already been cut, right?
Yep. He's been with the Cubs since the Cubs DFAed him in July.
I'm sure Bobby Wilson is one of the nicest people in baseball. He'd never have lasted this long if he wasn't.
But the big news here is that we've strengthened our bullpen.
For a second there I thought you were saying the PTBNL would be Butters.
There is definitely a non zero chance that happens, and I will be rooting hard for it.
Astudillo started one game at catcher and the Twins trade for Giminez the next day. Just a coincidence, I'm sure.
If you haven't voted on a book club read - today's the deadline!
McCutchen to Yankees? Why must everyone I like head there at some point (okay, not everyone)?
I'm not a Yankee
So, big Lance Lynn fan?
