Do tell . . .
The answer to Vampy Week's classic question is "HJ".

I'll awkwardly climb aboard the back of that bandwagon.
I got ya too. Ampersands connect, at most, two things. That there's even a rule for when they're used with three things is folly, as it sends out all sorts of wrong implications.
Ampersands connect, at most, two things.
Why would that be, though?
Ampersands are just ligatures of "et", which would be used in a series.
If there's any time to use the ligature to save space, it's when you have more than just two things.
Is there some Latin reason to avoid "et" in a series?
You'd probably have to ask someone from Latin America.
Why would that be, though?
Because that's become the custom. And it's all just custom.
When I manned one of the boys cabins at marching band camp years ago, I cranked up "Shining Star" for a wake-up song. Because brass.
