We've got some unfinished business heading into the postseason. One side note: this is still considered regular season baseball, so all teams still have the expanded 40-man rosters.
Game 163.1 (12:05 CT)
Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs
One more game between these two at Wrigley Field to decide the division.
Jhoulys Chacín (15-8, 3.56) v. José Quintana (13-11, 4.09)
Game 163.2 (3:05 CT)
Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers
Like the NL Central, the top of the NL West is also up for grabs in the game.
German Márquez (14-10, 3.76) v. Walker Buehler (7-5, 2.76)
It also means Yelich has a small but nonzero chance to win the NL Triple Crown.
All he needs is a home run.
Which, after that 8th inning strike out, he's probably not going to get, unless the Brewers blow the lead.
Yelich is in the zone
Brewers win!
It's kind of weird that the winner of the Brwers/Cubs got homefield throughout the NL side, whereas the loser gets the fifth seed and a one game play-in.
Isn't the loser the fourth seed, since they'll have a better record than the other wild-card team (whichever it is)?
Err, yeah. Mistake on my part. I always think of wildcard structure in terms of the way it's set up in football, with six total teams.
Kenley Jansen gives up back-to-back homers to start the ninth and all of a sudden we have a ball game again.
I guess he just wanted to build up a little dramatic tension, because he got the next three guys out. Dodgers win!
I see Dozier didn't play for the Dodgers today, not even pinch-hitting.
He's been starting against lefties only it looks like.
