Timberwolves for me tonight against the Utah Rubios. Also it's a throwback night so 1989 uniforms, Pooh Richardson, and a half time performance by Tone-Loc. Can't wait to hear Wild Thing live!
I've been debating temporarily suspending my boycott of watching games to watch the more fun and like-able Jazz and, more importantly, Rubio. Its a tough one, though, because watching the Wolves sounds like misery and seeing Rubio could either lean towards happy for him to sadly wistful of when basketball in Minnesota was fun.
Apparently no Buckets or Teague tonight.
Buckets might be taking a prolonged absence, according to Jon K, to further his quest to leave the Wolves.
Way to go Thibs.
Rose just earned his extension, however.
Guess I'll just switch teams then. Things are looking pretty fun in Sacramento this year, eh?
I have not watched a minute of a Kings game yet. Trying to build up my resilience first.
This might help? Also, keep in mind that Bjelica is playing like we all thought he could under a coach who is not a big dumbass.
I was bored, so I ordered some colored contacts for Halloween. Seemed like a fun lark with almost no effort necessary. In the end, they never showed up. Told the seller and they asked if I wanted replacement or refund. I took the latter as I'm not sure what I'd use them for until next year.
I'm tempted to say this is your punishment for not doing that HalloWGOM Mix you mentioned, but I doubt that's the case...
Well, if more than 5-6 people had responded maybe I would have been more enthusiastic. Or I'm lazy/forgot. Take your pick.
I know I caught a case of Option 2.
If it makes you feel any better, I probably would have said I was going to listen but then wouldn't have actually gotten around to it anyway.
Derek Shelton interviewed for the Rangers’ managerial vacancy yesterday. The Rangers interviewed two internal candidates, interim manager Don Wakamatsu & assistant GM Jayce Tingler, in their initial finalist pool. If I were either of those two, I wouldn’t like the handwriting emerging on the wall. Whether Shelton is offered the job, we’ll see, but it seems like Jon Daniels might’ve lost out on his top preferences in that initial pool. If that first choice was Rocco, then I’m glad the Twins moved quickly. Hopefully they can retain Shelton, since it sounds like they really like him, and he & Rocco have a history they can build from.
With only James Rowson & Rudy Hernandez returning for certain, there are a fair number of vacancies for Rocco to fill. I had figured Pickler would be retained on the coaching side,, but maybe he’s headed upstairs to give Rocco more latitude at assembling his own staff.
Okay, so far the new Windows 10 VM is working, although I've had to do a whole lot of configuring to get stuff looking at least somewhat close to what my Windows 7 VM looked like. The good news is that I can set each desktop on different monitors and do some quick comparisons, and I have a network drive to transfer files back and forth. I guess for now I should consider it a success that at least I haven't found any development apps that I use that are belly up.
So I've had a wheezing cough that won't go away for about a month now, and it has popped up every winter for the past 5 or 6 years. Specifically hits hard when cold air hits my lungs, things like that. Finally getting it checked out, and got tested for asthma today. Not that. But the cool part was I got to do PFTs (pulmonary function tests), which is something my siblings with CF always had to do. It was cool to experience some of the same stuff as them. Also, my lungs check in at 109% of expected function. So, yeah, I'm pretty good at breathing.
Now get your butt to an allergist.
The fact that it doesn't seem to go away with seasonal changes, and hasn't seemed to vary based on my consumption of OTC allergy meds made my primary say "I'd just put you on the relevant meds before sending you to an allergist."
Did you explain that you need to weigh his recommendation with one you got over the internet? (I hear they love that.)
You may find that the bronchitis lingers on after ragweed allergy season is over.

Twins claim Michael Reed off waivers from Atlanta. Here is his b-r page. I don't know anything about him beyond what I've linked here. Looks like he hadn't done a whole lot until last year, when he went .342/.453/.520 in a season split between AA Mississippi and AAA Gwinnett. He'll turn 26 on November 18, so he's not a kid. On the other hand, some guys take longer to figure it out. I guess we'll see.
Maybe not a kid but just starting his peak years and is at AAA. Definitely worth looking at, especially after the success with Cave last season.
The only highlights I saw were pretty ugly basketball. Rose some nice moves at times, but it was basically him dribbling around a screen or taking jump shots or him just dribbling around with everyone else standing around. At least he was pretty proficient. Getting 50 on 31 shots is pretty good. The previous game, he had 11 points on 16 FGA and had an ugly True Shooting Percentage of 30%.
Yep. One of the most miserable wins I've ever checked the box score for the next day. (I'm still at zero minutes of Wolves basketball on the year. I'm at least getting more burn than Tyus.)
Apparently Tyus hurt his foot during warmups
I had heard that, though I was more making a joke about the season as a whole.
It was a pretty fun game. First quarter it was maddening that Rose was just playing DRose ball but by the end, he was unstoppable and had a bit of shimmy to him. Every single person in that building was walking out saying that was fun.
I'll let DRose have his Mo Williams moment.
It'd only be worth it if he has the same Wolves fate as Williams did.

Nice brace of ring-necks on the cover of the MOU.
R. I. P. Willie McCovey, at age eighty.
Derrick Rose goes for 50
I cant even cheer for that
