After an unexpected and unwanted extra day off on Monday (stupid school snow day), it's been really hard to get back into the swing of things.

Monday was a trainwreck at my house, but on the bright side, yesterday and today have been much better.
Also, I tried catching up on sleep over Thanksgiving and was an absolute zombie all day Monday. I got less sleep the last two nights and don't feel tired anymore. So weird...
Must be universal. Work got insane Monday. Kids got sick (just colds, but they must be mighty colds to be wiping out our kids this badly. Normally they're impervious.). Other events kicked into high gear. Deadlines approach. I could really really use another long holiday weekend to recover.
The thought of gambling at baseball parks makes me sad. Probably because I once visited a horse racing track and the whole vibe was really depressing, and that’s the image that comes to mind when I think of gambling at sporting events.
oof. that's some stellar gifage right there.
(should "gifage" actually have 2 Fs?)
however it's spelled, it needs to be a word
Rhu, this one is funnier every time it cycles.
I think Pete's head peering in on an animated gif banner would be outstanding.
That's above my pay grade.
Seems wrong to wear both a frown and a bowtie.
But I'll give Pete Rose a pass just this once.
There's in-stadium gambling at English soccer stadiums and takes nothing away from the vibe. Maybe because it's been there for a long time, maybe because it's a small part of the whole game experience. Not sure if it's fair to compare to horse racing, as the whole purpose is gambling on the race results.
I wanted to make an English are degenerates /shoulder shrug joke #kidding, but settled on this comment instead.
Someone finally managed to win a chess game.
Game 2 is live right now -- kind of interesting following along, as moves happen in (a matter of) seconds, rather than hours.
It's all fascinating to me, because the logic of it all is so high level that it escapes me entirely. I feel like a cat reading a molecular physics textbook.
You want to shred the pages board and then sleep on one of the authors' players' faces?
Caruana just conceded game 2 with a lot of pieces left on the board (but bad positioning and little time). I look at the board and go, "Yeah even if I have that advantage Carlsen had, I'm somehow messing that up in four moves."
At the moment of concession, I feel like I could've won with black against a decent player, as Caruana had set himself up to lose quite a bit of material, but I'm confident that I would've never found the move that blew the game wide open.
You and I should play on from the position that they drew in game 12. That looked crazy. I couldn't make heads or tails of any of it.
Set it up.
I'm imagining this as nibbs having a Mr Robot moment.
!
Is this on ESPN or something?
I'm following on chess.com, though there are also video feeds.
And it's over. Man, Carlsen is otherworldly.
Yeah, people can begrudge the way the twelfth game went down, but the decision was...pretty clearly a very sound one.
11 years ago today, Bill Smith announced his presence with authority.
November 28, 2007: In GM Bill Smith's first trade, the #MNTwins send Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett, and minor leaguer Eddie Morlan to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Delmon Young, @BrendanHarris23, and Jason Pridie. https://t.co/TSJ0ZfvUim
What's weird is Dmitri is only mentioned once in the piece. Where was Dmitri when all this was going on with Delmon? You'd think his brother would be the one person Delmon could relate to.
Smith's legacy looked a whole lot better a year ago since he was the one that signed Sano, Polanco and Kepler all in the same offseason. All are regular players at the MLB level, so not bad signings, but their collective future was a lot brighter a year ago.
[redacted]!
On the stove: My favorite part of Thanksgiving (other than when everyone leaves) is making wild rice soup with the turkey broth.
Wow. That was some good frickin soup.
whoa. the twolves are stomping the spurs right now.
Yeah, I thought the Sixers beat the Knicks by a big score until I checked out the Wolves' score.
That was fun!
The Wolves are now all time against the Spurs 30-87
So, Robert Covington. Player?
I think Saric could be the better overall player when all is said and done. He's had a terrible start to the season shooting wise. Covington is an excellent role player. Great at spot-up shooting. Not much on creating his own shot. Excellent help defender. Not a great lockdown defender. Not bad but not as good as you might think with all the steals and blocks he gets, but that's largely from his help defense.

A's unveil wild ballpark rendering. The Coliseum would be demolished.
Ish.

Nobody doubted his talent.
He's only 33!
That's a really good piece. Thanks.

More like Robert Glovington
