My wife and Kernel took a 4-day trip to Captiva for her spring break; as is the case most years, what is in essence my ‘pre-season’ concluded that Friday so, no-go for me (& Niblet kept me company). I am headed to St.P this evening for the St. Paul & the Broken Bones show my buddy surprised me with tickets for. So I got that going for me ... which is nice.
Enjoy the show, saw them at the zoo last year and had a fabulous time.
Break week here is wrapping up this weekend. Mrs. Hayes is recovering from shingles, my mother-in-law spent a few days in the hospital with renal failure from an allergic reaction to BP meds (she’s out & okay now), and I’m a month into a new job. So, there hasn’t been much in the way of breaks, but hopefully things getting back closer to normal will feel like a break in itself.
Twins trade Michael Reed to San Francisco for John Andreoli. They're both outfielders, and Reed looks like the better player. I suspect the Twins had decided to take Reed off the roster and figured they might as well get something for him rather than just DFA-ing him.
My spring break is recovering from surgery, but the timing is good since I’ve got March Madness and Frozen Faceoff/Frozen Four, the Wild chasing a wildcard slot, Twins opener this week, not to mention time for movies and TV shows I’ve been neglecting (Schitt’$ Creek rules). Elder Daughter flies to Seattle today to see her friend and newborn baby, Younger Daughter is more or less moved out now that Mpls parking restrictions are lifted, and the Matriarch and Mrs. Twayn are helping me get back on my feet. Life is going on, and that sure feels good despite the hurts.
So NBBW gave me a brand new, shiny white, used plouffe sponge.
I just made my annual march out to the garage with the basement dryer vent hose (a March spreadsheet checklist item), and walked over to my old friend, Fluffie, hanging on the tag board at the back of what is my over-cluttered garage wall. Gray and worn from the years of faithful vent hose de-linting, I decided to give the veteran one more set of runs through the hose. I swept up the lint and dropped it and Fluffie into the trash bin. Good bye, Fluffie!
I mean, we're all hoping that Buxton hits .455 this year, but it sure wouldn't be bad if Castro hit like this during the regular season.
He did have that good offensive year in 2013. It's spring, so anything's possible, right?
We’ll be heading up to Mammoth Mountain for some skiing starting on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to seeing what the place looks like after their record February snowfall (24 feet at the top!).
Congrats to the Spamtowners. Boys finished 3rd in the State AAA hoops tourney. Girls lost both of their games, but hey, State!
Now getting in the neighborhood of 235Mbps on my desktop PC, ftw
We just upgraded to to the less-sucky AT&T Uverse speed, whatever that is.
Working in the quarter means it's spring break on repeat this time of year. Amateur hour at its finest.
Twins release Adam Rosales and Tim Collins.
Aw man, Rosales was this year's LaMarre, too!
