I should have been waking up with a bit a hangover after hanging out with my old friend last night.

fell down a rabbit hole and found this today. Ignore the first minute or so, which comes across as pretty annoyingly arrogant. This is really pretty interesting. I never knew the story of this song before.
I've watched this before -- nothing arrogant about it. What they were able to accomplish with a limited number of tracks and the technology of that time was incredible, and it always amazed my electronic music classes in college.
I agree there's nothing arrogant about it. It's just the opening minute or so frames the piece in an overly dramatic way. It's only when you actually get into it that you realize "well, heck, they have every right to be arrogant. This is impressive as hell."
A big contribution to this number is the Twinsβ newfound preference to swing at the first pitch. As a team, Minnesota hitters have swung at the first pitch 35.1% of the time in 2019, the second-highest clip in baseball behind Cincinnati (36.5%). Last season, the Twins ranked 28th at swinging at the first pitch (25.3%).
Not having Joe Mauer in the lineup will do that.
Don't know the stats, but seems like I recall Puckett used to swing a lot at the first pitch.

Had an odd dream last night. A handful of us WGOMers were sitting around a bar table having cocktails. I guess that part is really not odd, but it was a vivid dream of a bunch of friends having drinks and all was right in the world. We need to have a caucus in the near future, as it would be interesting to see if my mental image of those I have not met, match the real yous. My list of WGOMers that I have met is still too small. Nibbish, Twayn, AMR, Free, SBG... I think that is it. I blew it last summer when I had a chance to meet Rhubarb Runner and missed my chance to meet Philosopher when we opened the joint.
On another note, I am taking a 3 day vacation up to Duluth for some much needed R&R with the wife April 28-30. We are going to check out some waterfalls and for sure Castle Danger plus a return visit to Bent Paddle. There is a "Homegrown Music Festival" all week, so we will be hunkering down on that Monday to catch 4 different bands at Bent Paddle. Any other must visits you all recommend?
I'll be back again early July, so if it works out we might have another chance π
I really like OMC Smokehouse.
In your dream, what position was Jeff A playing for the Twins? We may all be having the same dream.
Unfortunately, he was not. However, I do vividly remember Twayn sauntering up and saying he was ready for a beer. Then, I saw in yesterdays comments, he truly is ready for a beer!
The Castle Danger Cream Ale is one of my favorite beverages. Enjoy your well earned leisure time.
Same. Easy drinking option with some character to it. I also absolutely love their 17/7 Pale Ale. It's my go to when I am not feeling IPA.
Part of the reason I am getting away for a few days: I spent a good chunk of this week dealing with very intense pain on the top of my skull. Like, throbbing waves of pain that robbed me of a few nights of sleep and brought me to tears all day long. Talking to a few medical people, they all kept saying "stress". Neck muscles all tense and affecting the nerves along my skull. Step one to fix it was Aleve, which did wonders. Step two... taking some much needed time away from the joint. As I was typing this, I received a text from a guy who supervised for me last summer and did an awesome job. He is graduating from college down in Chicago and has accepted a full time management position with me beginning in July. Great guy and a local hockey hero, so we speak the same language. I feel better already!
I too would like to Caucus soon. I've been back home for just over three years, and I've still not made a point to get one together.
I will do all I can to make said caucus.
4th of July weekend...?
I'll be near Alec 7/6 or 7/7, I think
July 6th, a Sunday, I could maybe host it in Alexandria. Either at the joint or at a park. I can possibly also arrange some cheap lodging with the hotel across the street. I know it's a drive for many, so no worries if the cities is the preferred location.
Betty's Pies (North Shore, raspberry cream pie)
Pickwick (onion rings, good Duluth dining)
Sivertson's (art gallery on Park Point, also one in Grand Marais, Group of Seven prints)
Sir Benedict's on the Lake (breakfast, Duluth)
Northern Waters Smokehaus (smoked Lake Trout, deli sandwiches, Park Point)
Tweed Museum of Art (UMD campus - awesome Mountie collection, also Chee's goldfish watercolors)
(not sure if you can go in there now, but) SAGE Building, former USAF site - I used to go in there with my dad and talk with Air Force pilots.
Coho Cafe (latte, scones - Lutsen)
Sven & Ole's Pizza (Grand Marais)
It's kind of cool that the Twins radio pregame shows are going to take a look at the 1969 Twins every Friday (they did it today because of the rainout). After having just done that team on the rewind, I can actually remember some of this stuff!
Disappointing to hear Rocco refer to a twelve-man pitching staff as "playing a man short in the bullpen".
Definitely a man short on the bench
Ex-Twins news: Mike Pagliarulo let go as Miami batting coach.

how long will these good times last until opposing pitchers take full advantage?
Minnesota sees just 3.71 pitches per plate appearance, the lowest mark in all of baseball.
Not having Joe Mauer in the lineup will do that.

How is he at spelling?
If that is a shot at my spelling, I deserve it.
Heh, sorry about that. I wasn't taking a shot at your spelling. Since the guy is a hockey hero, I was just wondering who good he is at spelling.
Oh, yeah... that episode was hilarious.
