Happy Luke Day!
For Father’s Day, I got my dad tickets for us to see The Who in September. I’ll just be happy if my daughters remember that it’s today.

I got Kepler
The strike zone according to Angel Hernandez, last night edition:
It's so bad it's almost beautiful.
The women’s soccer team is a blast to watch. Always attacking. The Chile goalie is playing out her mind and USWNT is still up 3-0.
I've been struck by how incredibly accurate their passes are. Everything is right on the money.
The Chilean goalie has been fun to watch, too.
I'm taking Eddie to get his 20th today.

I almost picked him
Hey, it's area retiree Glen Perkins on the pregame.
he’s been popping up pre and post game lately. if it keeps TL, out of there, i’m happy.
Father's Day was a grind. Showed up at 530am to help set up smoker and get the guy access to the building. Ended up staying til we opened and completely got my butt handed to me on expo all day long. Sold 5 full prime ribs, 40 chickens and 30 pulled pork. At 430, I took 10 minutes to soak my feet in ice water as the dogs were barkin! I think we fed close to 600 people. As wore out as I am (just got home), these days are a rush. Went as smoothly as could be expected considering we sat 150 people between 11 and 1130. The only drawback was I did not catch any of an exciting USOpen. BTW, the smoked Prime Rib was phenomenal. The guy we brought in has mad smoking skills!
Is this what that guy does full time, just gets hired out to restaurants for meat smoking days?
He has a full time "real job", but started the smokin' gig a few years ago. He has tow smoker trailers. He mostly does food at the local brewery and private catering events.
so you're telling me there's a chance....
It's a great gig if you like working a lot of weekends! Actually, the food world is changing so much, especially event planning. Seems like people who are planning weddings, retirement parties, etc are looking for something different. Smoked meats is a great option. We have also carved out a nice niche in our area for catering off site. We bill ourselves as custom catering. I basically meet with the client to get a good feel for what they are looking for and the physical layout of the location. Then I build a custom menu for them. I turn down 3 jobs for every one I take due to the fact that I already work to darn much.
My brother hired a smoked meat caterer like that for his wedding a few years back. It was pretty awesome.
One of our good friends runs this place. I know they've catered a lot of weddings and other events.
