I've mentioned this in Minor Details, but I don't know how many people may have seen it. The Blue Wahoos are in an odd position in regard to the playoffs. Biloxi won the division in the first half and is three games ahead of Jacksonville in the second half. If they win both halves, they don't get a bye into the next round. Rather, they will play the team with the second-best overall record in the division. That will be Pensacola. But if Jacksonville comes back and wins the second half, Jacksonville will play Biloxi in he playoffs and the Blue Wahoos are out. Pensacola's final series is against Montgomery. So, the Blue Wahoos are in contention for a playoff spot, but the games they play are completely irrelevant to whether they will qualify for the playoffs. That has to feel kind of strange.
For those keeping score, the Blue Wahoos are Pensacola.
Yes. I figured if you didn't know that, you probably weren't interested enough to read it anyway.
All those Florida cities blur together. 'Cept Ft. Myers -- that's a special place.
Now that's a pitcher's league if he led with a .316/.382/.459 slash line.
Also, Toby Gardenhire was named coach of the year along with Jeff Smith. Not manager of the year but it counts for something.
So, we agreed to our seller's counter offer this morning. We are committed.
I am nervous about money-pit issues. The house needs substantial sewer work, which the seller's counter will only partially cover. And a bunch of other minor-ish work, most significantly including remediation of drainage around the house and exterior stucco repair and painting before the rainy season starts.
So I will be bitching about home repairs for the foreseeable future. Which is nice.
sounds like a new monthly column...?
him bitching is already a regular thing around here!
Har!
True, true.
Not sure if there are any Tool fans, but in case anyone is interested, they just released their first album in 13 years: Fear Inoculum.
Taking a listen right now. So far I like it quite a bit. Going to take several listens to really get comfortable with it, but it's starting out nicely.
Warning though, the songs are all loooong (over 10 minutes). Not sure if any will get much significant radio play, but I get the feeling the band isn't too concerned about that.
I didn't realize they might take 10,000 days literally.
I’m in. Appreciate the reminder.
punman - I finally got around to listening to this, and after once through it, I bought the download. I know it's the way of the future now, but I really do love a compact disc (vinyl ain't portable). I bought the "new" Ramona Falls album on vinyl and have only listened to it twice ... and I haven't taken the time to transfer the digital download from the .zip format it arrived in into the 'Music' app on my cell; I've only listened to it by selecting one track at a time.
Put your base-trotting shoes on, folks, 'cause among other long balls, Sano's going deep twice.

It's a little late, but I forgot it was a 6:00 game and haven't even turned it on yet. I have Adrianza. For all I know, he may not even be in the lineup.
What must the Indians fans think when they scoreboard watch and see serious scoring in the beginning of the Twins game all the time?
Gibby won't be finishing this game
4 run lead and Gibby belches that out? Sometimes I just want fire him into the sun.

Gopher web gem.
A friend of mine shot it from the end zone.
