Though hungry joe is tentative with lower back pain, he's pretty sure the manager will force him into the lineup today.

Sorry to hear about the lower back pain. Hang in there.
No time for a recap today. The short version is that the Twins built a big lead and hung on by their fingernails. It looks beautiful in the standings, though, and coupled with a Cleveland loss gives the Twins a 6.5 game lead. It would be nice to hold, or even increase, that lead going into the weekend series with the Indians, so they felt like they had to have a sweep to stay competitive. They'll try to win them all anyway, obviously, but a little extra pressure on them would be okay with me.
Minor league playoffs start tonight. Quad Cities is at Cedar Rapids and Pensacola is at Biloxi. Both games start at 6:35.
Iβm gonna be honest with the football league guys - I forgot I was the commissioner. I set the draft for 6pm tonight.
b league is at 8:30.
the best in half-bakef tradition
RIP, Dick Wilson. I admit to not knowing his name until hearing it on MPR this morning, but definitely a part of my youth.
I don't know that I've ever thought about who might have written that song. Thanks for sharing.
Really doing a disservice to put the 1987 version of the song in that post instead of the jazz version.
Agreed.
Love and Hate.
I love it when they play Weβre Gonna Win, Twins the original, old-fashioned way.
I hate it when they add syncopation to it.
I love the old Hamm's commercials on the radio (the beer refreshing, etc.).
I love the national anthem when sung pure and clean.
I hate it when they feel like they have to parkour it.
I love instrumental national anthem.
Out here in H'istan they get an Irish tenor to do the anthem before a 5K. Awesome.
So, we are under contract to sell our house after 3 days on the market. I'd say we under-priced, but I'm pretty happy with the result.
The new place needs some work (sewer line replacement and stucco repair/painting the house being the big-ticket items). But the important part is that the Mrs has approved-in-principle the installation of a proper kitchen hood and purchase of a new gas range.
I'm going to be in the market for 36-inch gas or dual-fuel slide-in stoves. Happy to take (helpful) recommendations.
I see good things about Wolf ranges. I also hear good things about gas ovens with infrared broilers.
Anybody have experience with fancy-pants home ranges?
I have experience with trying to get a job at Sub-Zero/Wolf. They didn't hire me, though.
Is that an endorsement?
Only in that it is a Madison based company. High end appliances are a thing I haven't made enough money to contemplate.
No, I meant the not-hiring part. π
I was offered a thermador range this week for a silly cheap price. Problem is half the burners wonβt light and someone stuck a screwdriver into one of the fans of the hood. I passed. Otherwise, I have dreams of owning a Stanley Cooker someday.
So my SiL declined being induced yesterday, so the nephew is still pending.
Stats Update
HR: Twins (271), Yankees (261). Twins still have two games in hand. Yankees facing Lance Lynn today, who has been stingy on homers this year.
R: Twins (820), Yankees (812). Twins would need to average 7.5 runs per game to reach 1,000.
I picked up some decent tix for the Twins-White Sox game for September 16, thinking that may be a good day they could clinch the division. Of course predicting 12 days out isn't super good odds but was also one of the few days I had time, it was either that or September 18.
Twins and Indians would have to have a combination of 18 wins and losses in total 24 games for it to happen. Might be a fun little contest. Pick the game the Twins clinch.
I just got tickets for the 22nd. The head-to-head with Cleveland will really swing that clinching date.
Iβll be at the 22nd tilt as well.
Cool
I'll be in section 103 (I think) with a friend.

Hmm, I wonder if there's some sort of shorthand or expression we can use for this equation... π€π€π€
Man, sounds like you're describing a little something I like to call the "beat the other team number".

...well, times, anyway. Some were good.
And really just "time" not "times".
