Ditto - non-stop from 3PM on. But a good kind of non-stop
A lot of walk-ins at the office, eh?
That would be one way of putting it.
Working til 3 or 4. Closing down shop then going to candle light service with the family. Go home and put a mild buzz on while probably watching A Christmas Story for the 200th time. I bought a NY Strip Roast to reverse sear for my staff who are working today. It is one of my favorite days at work. All staff who volunteer to work the shift due to getting fed well. Merry Christmas to all of my WGOM friends!
We drive!
This month has been odd. Between my brothers wedding (California), the Little Ghost's school program (Illinois), and now Christmas / New Year's Eve (Minnesota), we'll have spent three straight weekends with my parents in three different states.
Inefficient, but enjoyable.
We are hosting, so it's a stay at home day
I successfully baked a pie this morning with a backdrop of near-constant bickering by my boys.
They are now battling with foam swords while the music to The Nutcracker plays. Happy Holidays?
Did someone say pie?
Pie with a side of conflict and strife!
Seems Survivor-esque . . .
The Prince and Mouse King dueling?
Exactly--by far their favorite scene in the ballet! I was instructed to be Clara and come throw my slipper at the critical moment.
The oldest two got to watch it for the first time last week. Perhaps a bit long at an hour 40 minutes for the four-year-old but they both made it.
Glad to know they both made it! The peperoncino was obsessed with it when he was a bit younger, and sometimes when playing with him I got to play a dual role of the Nutcracker and Clara! 😂
Went in to work for awhile this morning. Bonus is I brought one of the doggos me with since there is hardly anyone here. Dinner out with the Mrs. tonight and probably falling asleep to some classic Christmas movies this evening.
One more run to the stores (grocery, liquor and hardware) and that should do it. I spent four hours yesterday doing a deep clean of the kitchen so we'd be ready to prepare the feast. We're planning a quiet evening at home with Younger Daughter. Dinner will be medium rare roast beast, baby lettuce salad with craisins, pecans, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette, garlic mashed potatoes, sweet corn, fresh baked rolls and a good claret. Whiskey ginger cookies for desert with coffee and maybe an Amaretto or brandy. After dinner we'll finish decorating the tree (we left some stuff off so YD can hang a few ornaments), then watch our Christmas shows - Charlie Brown, the Grinch, Rudolph, Prep and Landing, etc. Tomorrow morning we'll open gifts and have a big breakfast, then in the afternoon the ladies are dragging me to a matinee of Little Women. By choice and fiscal prudence we went very light on the gifting this year, which is okay by me. Except for the BB gun I got when I was 12, none of my best Christmas memories have anything to do with presents, they're all about the decorations, the music, the food, and the fellowship of family, friends, and neighbors. Quality time with loved ones is the best gift. Merry Christmas.
Kudos on the CoC picture today, multiply thematic and festive.
I have concerns for the coffee-enticed snowman.
your league champions this year are zee german and myself. congrats, you two!
Isn't that a little self-congratulatory?
how so?
I will also wish them both the very, very best.
I could complain about Henry being sat last minute and Watson securing 9 out of his predicted 26 points, but even an additional 30 points would not have been enough to overcome the brilliance of your lineup construction over the weekend. Congratulations to you & well done sir!
Well done, jobu. I knew I was toast pretty early on Sunday. Still always a fun time.
we did christmas the day after thanksgiving. finished up everything then. it feels like everyone is still celebrating in late january to me.
Santa "brought gifts early" this year because we have crap to do tomorrow morning before heading to the in laws. Other than that, I'm trying to get some chores done, mainly laundry, but so far haven't gotten motivated to do much other than read articles panning RoS.
Happy Hanukkah from Berlin.
We almost got mistaken for Canadians at the hotel bar tonight. So, that was good.
Today, we strolled around the Bundestag and Brandenburg Gate, then through one of the larger Christmas markets, at Gendarmenmarkt. On the steps of the Konzerthaus was a weird Christmassy minstrel show. Luckily, Schiller's back was to it. And then we had crappy pizza near Checkpoint Charlie because nobody had cell service and it was hard to find an open restaurant that had decent veggie options. I am imagining having to spend a week here without a decent dinner because my wife won't allow us to plan ahead... 🥺
Tomorrow (Christmas day) we go to a showing of La Traviata at Die Komische Oper. There are rumors of Turkish food.
The rest of the week will prominently feature museums on Museum Island, plus some side trips.
Ausgezeichnet!
Bless you!
Thanks, but I already am!
Try to take in some Glühwein. Turkish food = Doner kebab.
Yes, Germany has lots of great a Turkish and Lebanese restaurants
I found out that a certain musician makes about half a million dollars each year for a certain earworm Christmas song...
There are a few things going on today, yes.
