        1. I just had my second buzz cut of the lockdown. Dr. Chop is getting pretty good with the clippers.

              1. That's been my method so far, but it's getting hot enough I'm not sure how long I'm going to let it go. I've been contemplating buying some electric clippers and going the buzz cut route, we'll see.

                1. I've had my own clippers since college. Figure a $20 haircut once a month, times 12 years is 20*12*12 is about three grand I've saved.

Of course, that math is flawed as it assumes I've cut my hair regularly that entire time, whereas I actually cycle through long-short as the seasons dictate.

Last night I started my summer cut - #2 everywhere.

          1. Philosofette just gave me my second trim too.

            ...

The first one went a lot better than this one did.

              1. It is precisely why I was wearing a hat last night.

I'm trying to figure out how I can wear a hat for my zoom court hearings.

                  1. Oh man... that's awesome.

Now I'm trying to figure out if I could do that without being held in contempt...

        1. Fair point. This isn't so much a weekday/weekend distinction, but I've definitely switched from being in short-term emergency mode (which involved prioritizing everyone else's needs and demands at all times) to something that is a bit more sustainable. Early on I was taking lots of walks with the boys, so I thought I was exercising, but in truth, it wasn't anywhere near enough.

I think it was 3 weeks ago that I took a ballet class thanks to the wonders of YouTube. And since then I've found more ballet and have gotten back into pilates and yoga for the first time in forever. Before all this, I always intended to stretch but almost never got around to it. And now, this is one of the things keeping me sane.

After dinner the boys have some screen time and then typically play outside for a bit, so I'm able to get in 20-30 minutes of activity most days. Ballet classes are longer, so those happen twice a week. It's very quickly become a regular habit and since my family now expects it, I don't need negotiate getting that time. (Extra bonus, I no longer feel obligated to wash the dishes every night after dinner!)

  1. I spend much more time outside (and try to bike for at least 15 miles on one of the days).

  2. I thought I would be in a full blown melt body melt down by this time because of no baseball, no sports. But you know I'm not that broken up over it. Sure it stinks baseball isn't on every day or staying up way past bed time because a NHL game going to like 8 overtimes. And I miss it. But at the same time, I don't miss it. I'm at peace with no activity and watching "Classic" games on tv (NBCSN has been killing it in this department).
Maybe its because I live pretty close to Martin County, a huge covid hotspot in the state, I have a pretty good respect for just hunkering down and letting this thing pass and that has spilled over to sports. I dont want to see a bunch of people all gathered together on a playing field or in an empty stadium.

      1. I actually worry about the heath of the players more than I miss the entertainment. If there is not sufficient testing for the players and staff there shouldn’t be games, imo.

    1. Watching Cory Schlesinger run past Warren Sapp to win the 94 championship was amazing. Haven't watched that game since I was 12!

(Also, at one point Ray Lewis clobbered someone and stood up to do his shimmy dance. Oh, and Nebraska converted a fourth and one by running directly at The Rock. )

      1. yeah that was great! I didnt watch much college football back then so that game was like watching a fresh game. Its weird seeing well after the tackle was made hits, player taking their helmets off after plays, and the crop to jerseyp/wide shoulder pads look of the mid 90s.

  3. We’ve taken to doing long walks around New Orleans most days, but the weekend involves a socially distant stop at the bakery / coffee shop we’d normally frequent. We also attempted to darken our living room, popped popcorn and got some soda for a matinee. It was, okay? Not really going to the movies, but an attempt was made.

    1. I am enjoying it too, but not sure it will be worth subscribing once my freebee expires.

  4. One big difference for us is the construction workers aren't here working, so weekends are much quieter than weekdays are. The weekend calm is a nice change, with the tradeoff being that it means one more day until it is all finally done.

  5. My weekdays aren't much different than they were pre-rona, although I'm actually putting in more hours of work than when I was going in to the office. Of course, some of that has to do with getting a ton of quote requests and orders in over the last two weeks.

Weekends I try to relax as much as possible, and this weekend we had really great weather, so there was a lot of deck sitting and Tom Collins drinking going on. Been doing a lot of online gaming with my curling buddies as well. We've got a weekly Left 4 Dead 2 game going that's been a lot of fun.

Honestly, my life hasn't changed a whole lot because of this. The biggest change is that I'm suddenly flush with cash because of the stimulus, a larger than expected bonus, and not having to pay for daycare. I have noticed that I drive a bit more aggressively, though, because I'm not concerned about gas mileage right now since I only use about a quarter tank a month.
