I remember a Benny Hill sketch where he reads a story with the "s" replaced with "f".
I've decided to publish a series of posts on my presidential biography tour and this morning I've posted the first entry, which is an introduction explaining the hows and whys.
cc: HJ, I need to figure out how to add pictures to my posts. What I mean by this is I need a picture for the front page of the post. I can add one within the post just fine.
Check the "Featured Image" panel. Upload an image to the media library and then pick that image using that panel when editing the post.
Thanks.
I'd recommend changing the name to "SBG's Great Biographical Tour of Presidents" -- not all of those presidents were great 😉
LOL. I just finished MVB and I can tell you that this is true.
I've had individual keys go out before, but the worst was my previous laptop where a whole column - c/d/e/3 - went out. I ended up lugging around a wireless keyboard with me because the rest of the laptop was still functional (and not all that old and not all that cheap).
My laptop is really a portable desktop. I have dual monitors that hook up to a "docking station" (it's just basically a switch that plugs into a USB port) and a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have the laptop as a third screen, which I use to store open documents that I want to get to, but no actual work is done by using the user interface on it.
I have the same setup at home (I've been working from home for several years), but last summer I bought a cheap portable monitor that is thinner than my laptop and fits in my backpack. Not as good as my regular setup, but WAY more portable, and I ended up using the portable monitor fulltime because it turns out working from a recliner (laptop on a tray on my lap and portable monitor on an end table) is really comfortable.
If you're a cat and you get your paw stuck in someone's chair while they are on a conference call do you:
A. meow calmly so that you get help getting unstuck.
B. Panic and meow loudly and bite the person's arm
This is not even a question. B, of course.
Ah, the joys of working from home.
Our middle cat Theo comes down to sit on my lap every day. I have to pick him up to stop the meowing and he's happy for about 5-10 minutes. Then he wants down and doesn't bother me for the rest of the day. He will spend a couple of hours taking a nap in the chair next to me, though.
Both our cats basically sleep all day, although they wrestle around 10-11:00. I could watch cats wrestle all day. But I just got an office chair with a mesh back and for some reason Fizz likes to claw at it. Hopefully he learned his lesson.
I am the one person in our house who doesnt really like cats. Of course whenever I sit down or lay down anywhere, our cat wants to camp out on my lap or my back forever.
I can't even have some damn kippers in peace.
You think that’s a coïncidence ?
Hat tip to those who may be looking to augment a wardrobe to accommodate COVID-era changes in physique: Duluth Trading has a 25% off sale on everything, with some clearance items marked down 80%.
Dang, just so happens I need a couple new pairs of cargo pants.
Chicken Sammie Wars
Last nite the wife went out and got Popeye's Chicken Sandwiches whilst I was on a Zoom. We did splitzies on Classic and Spicy.
Crust on both sandwiches was awesome. I liked the Classic, but had a sneaking feeling with Spicy that I would pay for it later. Coleslaw was boring.
Net net: I wouldn't buy them again (but we're not fast foodies in general).
The cajun flounder is incredible.
I was wondering about that.
Is that new? I don't recall seeing that on a menu before.

Ah, comes the dawn.
At the joint we make a Panko crusted chicken breast for our Chicken Parm. I have been melting pepperjack cheese on it, then put it on a brioche bun with pesto mayo, Bibb lettuce and tomato. It is fantastic. Might have to enter the Chicken Sammie Wars!
Look for us sometime in April. I'll let you know the day.
Looking forward to it! A heads up on April. We will be closing at 4pm Sunday, April 25th and re-opening on Saturday May 1st.
The plan is to empty all the furniture out on Sunday after 4 with much of the old stuff being donated to a local charter school that is starting up. Monday through Thursday the contractor will be updated the restrooms (tile/countertops), replacing our dining room ceiling and building up some walls. Oh, and a fair amount of paint/wallpapering. New furniture shows up on that Friday with booths getting installed and everything getting set up.
Also, once the frost is out we will demo our existing patio, so most of April and May we will not have outdoor seating.
New COVID-19 cases in Dakota County MN have a 14 day/per10K rate today that's the highest since Jan. 27. A week or so ago, the school district announced that they would be working toward four day a week classes in April. Yesterday, they announced that will not be happening because cases are too high. We are about where we were just before the election and are high enough that all middle and high schoolers should be sent home to school remotely. I fear another wave coming, just as the state is relaxing its restrictions. Shots in arms. We need shots in arms.
The good news is that we're supposed to get a big shipment of JnJ vaccine in the next couple weeks. We've been pretty consistent on vaccines administered by day but we should get a big boost at that time.
It is definitely shocking to me how competent this Wisconsin government can be when allowed to do their jobs. It feels good to live in the state that's handling the vaccine better than any other. I'm gonna be able to responsibly take a Caribbean vacation in May and curl again next season.

FTFY
Ugh, my in-laws live in the Dells so I have to go there way too often. The water parks are fun, but the tourists...
