As of this morning, my yard is completely free of snow and ice.

In a bit of self-promotion, I will note that my post on George Washington is now live.
Is it Thursday? Because single game tickets for the Twins first 17 home games go on sale this Thursday.
Dazzle is talking today like Cave has a shot at winning the left field job. I suspect that's just Dazzle being Dazzle, but it does concern me a little that it would even be a thought.
Well, he does have a shot, but there hasn't been a rash of injuries in the OF just yet.
Does anyone anticipate the job being won by opening day? I don't think we will see a "regular" left fielder during the first quarter of the season. They will rotate based upon platoon splits and who's turn it is to have a day off. I would not be surprised if Rocco doesn't already have a bit of a schedule penciled in. He has been pretty good about scripting out his lineups well in advance to maximize the right day to give regulars a day off and play bench players when there is a platoon advantage.
I suspect you’re right, assuming Kirilloff doesn’t get the starter nod. I’d much prefer Arraez regularly playing left & leading off when Donaldson, Simmons, and Polanco are in the lineup to Cave being the starter.
I know there are not a ton of Cave fans around here, but (too busy to look up and post stats) he seems to be a pretty solid 4th outfielder. If I remember, he is above average defensively when not in CF. I know he struggled at the plate last year, but his first two years he was decent. I don't really want him as starter long term, but I would be ok with him logging heavier innings in left until Kirilloff (can we just call him Dolla Dolla Bill too?) comes up to take it over. I suspect he will get in somewhere between 250 and 300 plate appearances, unless injuries elsewhere force us to play him ore.
I don't have a problem with him as a reserve. I just don't want him to be a regular.
I'm assuming Kirilloff's poor spring is the excuse FO needs to start him in the minors a get his bat working again. Meanwhile, I think the outfield situation might set up for a solid platoon scenario ala KielMohr. Someone like Broxton or Garlick even have a chance (a very slim one)
But he'll be stuck at the alternate site for a month before facing proper minor league pitching. They should have him start the season with the Twins. He'll either do well and prove he didn't need any MiLB time or he'll have some struggles and visit AAA for a few weeks and delay his free agency anyway. It's going to be a competitive division so every bit will help.
By less than a week. Polanco signed on 06 July 2009; Kepler signed on 11 July 2009. While Polanco debuted on 26 June 2014 and Kepler didn’t make his until over a year later on 27 Sept 2015, Polanco slightly trails Kepler in service time — 4.024 years to 4.152 years.
Do we have anything going on for fantasy baseball this year? League appears to be renewed, but no draft/keeper dates?
Anyone with experience replacing a furnace in the recent past, say 3 - 5 years or so? As of last Friday - and confirmed today - I’m in the market for a new one. I’ve never purchased a furnace before so brand recommendations (or any advice really) would be sincerely appreciated.
More like 6-8 years, IIRC. I think we got a Lennox. Replaced both the furnace and AC at the same time.
Congrats on the new gig. Good luck trying to keep the local talent in state.
Now I know why all the fans are upset with his lack of experience!
Oh, man. I finally saw the news and made the connection.
Good luck, Corn. You are gonna need it. 😅
😬
Too bad that Sid's gone. You could have been his close personal friend!
We bought a new furnace about 18 months ago, I think. We have a Bryant furnace and it was a little expensive, but I like how it heats the house. Our house is tough to heat because four levels... but I like that it is programmed to take 20 minutes to heat when it kicks in. Because the heating process is slow, it seems to heat more evenly. We can also run the fan continuously (although we haven't because my wife doesn't like that) which can also help in that regard. The fan is extremely low energy to run and I would run it in the winter if I was in charge.
The filters are very effective, but at $35 a pop, expensive. They look like an accordian, not like a typical furnace filter. The controller tells us when to change them, which is nice because then I don't have to tell my wife that it's not time to change them, I can point to the controller on the wall.
We also purchased a Bryant furnace at the previous house. The filters were different than what we have here (standard 1") but they are more efficient if they're bigger. They also last longer. I recommend setting a price watch on Amazon, etc and buy when they go on sale.
I can't provide any long-term evaluation. We had some issues with the pump for the year or so we had it. I had to mop up when it overflowed a few times. It overflowed again after we moved but before we sold the house, much to the annoyance of our realtor. We ended up having to tear out a bunch of the cabinets that were nearby because of the water damage.
We do not have a heat pump. We have a gas forced air furnace.
I meant the pump for the water condensation from the A/C. I don't know why, but it forgot how to pump a few times.
Ok, we replaced furnace only.
Both of our units (upstairs and downstairs, separate zones) have single returns. for the upstairs unit, there is a Lennox PureAir electronic air cleaner between the return and the unit. Big box filter (MERV 16), UV lights, electrostatic something something, catalytic something something for killing VOCs.
All of that hardware reduces airflow across the system (Because Resistance and Stuff), and probably is massive overkill, given that our house is probably nowhere near airtight enough for the air cleaner to actually keep our air hospital-grade clean. But I was thankful to have it during the fires the last couple of years, because our outside air was pretty hazardous.
If I had any useful advice, it would be to price heat pumps. Although in your area, you might need a geothermal heat pump, which might be cost-prohibitive.
So, Boulder. It’s just another in a long line of place names to be added to a list.

Caves are cool.
i was in a cave yesterday!
Cave bacon is also really cool.
There's cave bacon in the Mystery Cave too!

According to Cory,
Not sure I would have gotten that
