  1. Ex-Twins news: Adalberto Mejia signs to play in Taiwan for the Fubon Guardians.

  2. Twins have rough schedule next few days. Doubleheader in Los Angeles today and then back to Cleveland tomorrow.

Also potential for a 5 game Minnesota Sports loss today:

    Twins (2)
    Lynx
    Saints
    Wild

    1. I forgot to update the sidebar when those games were rescheduled so I jinxed the team by saying they couldn't lose today. Instead, they can lose twice.

    2. one of my local academic friends is an Angels lifer. His comment: "one of our teams has to win today."

    3. Whoa! Potential fir a 6 loss night as Saints continuing a rain delay from yesterday tied 2-2.

      1. Lynx: lost (0-4 now).
        Twins: lost and won.
Saints: won and losing in the eighth.
Wild: winning but lot of game left.

  3. B-Ref mentions that Marwin Gonzalez has been thrown out at home plate four times this season. Many of the Twins haven't been that close to home plate four times

    1. $5 ticket deals are today only, but for all remaining games. Sections 201, 202, 203, 226, 227, 228 only.

      1. Those $5 seats are great for getting in the ballpark and just moving around to different spots to watch the game (usually standing but sometimes sitting).

    2. Thanks for the heads up! We'll be taking the family to the July 7th game against the White Sox. Didn't find those sections, but the $5 price applied a little higher up in the stands, so that was good enough for me!

  4. A few days late, but Justice Anderson from the Minnesota Supreme Court has issued a preliminary ruling:

    1. A frequent baseball tweeter.

Still tied with 2011 after 41 games. The 2011 team was in the middle a three-game win streak after dropping nine straight to get to 14-27.

    2. I love this.

I disagree with the preliminary draft of his finding, but I love this.

    3. Stupid is as stupid does. The college football Gentleman's Agreement was also an unwritten rule.

      1. I still think the phrase "he violated the unwritten rules" should be replaced with "that was a dick move" -- more accurate, less comprehensive, and better understood

  5. From the Unfortunate Covid Developments dept:

When I had Covid in January I lost my taste/smell, almost entirely. It started to slowly come back after a few weeks, but has never returned to where it once was. But over the last couple weeks it has morphed from reduced taste/smell to picking up awful tastes and smells - lots of foods (no rhyme or reason behind them), toothpaste, phantom smells, etc. - all smelling/tasting of like a rotted, burnt onion. It is truly awful. Dr. this morning basically said "Yup, we're seeing that. Good luck."

    So hopefully that goes away.

      1. I've been vaccinated, and this occurred after that.

I'm hoping it's allergy-related, but that's just a hope based on very little evidence.

        1. If your nose is a little "busy" right now, this could certainly be influencing things. I know my allergic reactions were a serious bother when we were there last week.

    1. What amazes me is you still seem to be cooking awesome things from time to time. I would imagine that's a frustrating experience.

      1. It wasn't all that hard to cook with the diminished taste, but this awfulness is something different. I don't want to invest any effort into stuff that might just taste abysmal.

        1. I have seen/heard claims that it is useful to "re-train" your brain on smells. Maybe try picking a few things (e.g., one herb at a time) and really snuffling it for a few minutes. Repeat over a couple of days, then go on to something else.

    2. We have a family member who that has happened to. It's gotten a little better in the past 12 months

    3. When I was recovering from my bypass surgery I had a similar experience. Food just didn't taste right, some things had a weird overpowering metallic flavor and other things I could barely taste at all but almost everything just tasted wrong. It lasted about three weeks and then gradually went away. When I mentioned it to my cardiologist he said that's not uncommon and seems to be related to being on a respirator. I hope things improve for you because that was a pretty miserable part of the whole miserable post-op period.

      1. Chemo has utterly messed my my sense of taste--I can still taste, but lots of foods taste wrong. I used to love dark chocolate and green tea, and they both taste awful now. This is temporary and should go away within a few weeks of ending chemo (5 weeks to go!), and of course the benefits are worth having a temporarily messed-up sense of taste.

But I hope your sense of taste and smell improve soon!

  6. bought a little carpenter bee trap at Lowes a couple weeks go, and after coming home from our vacation, found a couple carpenter bees (and a couple flies), so starting to get a ROI. Plenty more need to find their way there, though.

  7. Okay, I scored two tickets for next Wednesday against Baltimore and two for a week from Sunday versus the Royals. All for $20.
