So, anyone have anything particularly fun scheduled for this weekend?

This weekend I decided to close the joint on July 4th. Depending on what day it lands on (and weather), the 4th can be hit or miss in terms of sales. With my staff just getting smoked every night with the new patio excitement, a day off for the whole crew will be beneficial to all of our mental and physical health. My left knee (torn meniscus) acted up on Friday and shortly after I put my brace on it, my other knee started to throb. So that was fun. I think on the 4th, I am going to go to my buddy's house on the lake, have some cocktails, ride the pontoon and just chillax.
Going into the final hole of the PDGA World Championships, James Conrad trailed 5x World Champion Paul McBeth by one stroke. They had been matching birdies for the last 4-5 holes. Conrad's tee shot was able to clear the water, but hit a tree to give him a huge disadvantage. However, McBeth's tee shot went wide left and missed going out of bounds by inches. Both players layed up their second shots, and at this point many thought it was over as Conrad needed a miracle to catch McBeth, or McBeth had to make a major error.
Cue to the video. Conrad's third throw on 18 from about 250 feet away nails the basket, which brought him even with McBeth and forcing a playoff. Conrad would later win on the first playoff hole (Hole 16, one which he aced earlier in the tournament) after McBeth's first shot ended up in the water. Just an incredible turn of events.
We'll be going camping this weekend, up near Alex. I'm trying to look for an opening to make it to Zoom's, but it's not looking too promising right now.
My sister and her hubby from Colorado will be in Brainerd visiting our mom so we're going up north. I hope to get some fishing in this time.
My wife's sister and her family and their parents are in Brainerd this week. Grandma and Grandpa swung through here on the way up on Saturday to grab the Elder Daughter so she's had an exciting few days at the lake with her cousins.
My wife and I are headed up towards the end of the week with The Little One to join in the fun.
So I originally bought two tickets to Friday's Suburbs show at 7th Street Entry. It was the Entry's first post pandemic show and Suburbs have actually never played there. The place only holds 250 people so it was coup to get the tickets and thought it would be a crazy fun show. Oh did I mention they were $94 a piece with the fees? Ouch! Anyway, at that price, 4th of July weekend, etc. I couldn't find anyone to take the 2nd ticket. Someone told me they were selling on the AXS resale market for over $100 a piece so on a lark I put them up for $150 each and they sold in 3 days. Good news right? I just made $100 profit and don't have to worry about pestering friends to take an overpriced ticket off my hands. Bad news: I wanted to go to the show and was kicking myself for not just trying to sell one (I honestly didn't think anyone would buy the tickets at that price).
It might all work out in the end as I found someone who may sell me a single ticket for face value (no added fees). I can wait until the last minute in case they have a better offer (they have two and want to sell both if possible). Other than that, I'll probably go hiking Saturday afternoon near Two Harbors.
I just got tickets for Bad Religion at the Palace. I'm not a huge fan but a friend is.
Bad Religion's Christmas album is my favorite Christmas album.
Dodgy business, this return to ‘normal.’
Just received word that the Tame Impala tickets I bought in December 2019 are finally getting closure. Original show date of July 17, 2020 was postponed (obviously) and then early this year was rescheduled for October 10, 2021. Email from Ticketmaster informs me that the show has been canceled and I’ll be receiving a refund.
Two out of six of my 2020 shows (Sturgill & Tame Impala) have been canceled and the remaining have been rescheduled at least once. I saw no live music last year and won’t see my first show in person until Aug. 21st where I’ll then have two concerts in three nights (Ween & Green Day). Tampa Impala on 10/10 would have been the 2nd show in as many nights (DBT on the 9th). Then a break until the second rescheduled date for Jason Isabell on the 1st of December, (which had been originally scheduled for June 19, 2020 and initially rescheduled for April 16, 2021).
I'll be at the Isbell show.
I'm mad about the Sturgill show. It doesn't sound like he'll do a tour like that one in the future now that he's entered his blue grass phase.
Same, and I hope you’re wrong.
Let’s try to remember to connect, maybe meet up pre- or post-Isbell.
Sounds good
We have some friends visiting from St. Louis (Alan from the Antiquity League) who we'll meet on the 4th. My cousins are also going to be up visiting from Omaha.
Besides spending time with them, I have a jury trial in Two Harbors starting in July 7. I'm trying to get all my final prep done.
I've always wanted to make a tshirt with a map of Two Harbors with the caption
It's got two harbors, so I call it Two Harbors

Reusse has been teetering onto grumpy old man watching the world pass him by takes for a while now but sometimes that grumpiness serves him well. He rightly takes the Twins to task for canceling Saturday's game due to "rain" in this article.
You know, it would have been a whole lot more effective article if he was able to lay off the sarcasm. I'm assuming that's not possible
Agree, but at this point I think it's in his blood. He couldn't possibly live without it.
I’m fine with him taking them to task for not playing the game, and for a season that blew up on the launch pad. However, blaming the Twins for the brinksmanship of the predatory media propaganda organization that acquired the broadcast rights deal they negotiated with the regional sports channel of a mass media conglomerate seems both misleading & deliberately provocative.
Don't get me started on BSN (the BullShit Network).
You can thank me for the rain. Middle child grad party was 1-4 on Saturday. It rained from 12:30-4:30.
But but only 0.12 inches at the airport seven miles away!
Thanks! (& congratulations).
Thanks! Ended up with a lot of leftover ice cream but very little leftover beer.
No wrong answer there.
We're getting waves of rain through here today, each dropping ~¼", and combined with the accompanying thunder it's been the perfect recipe for cranking up the humidity and keeping the granddog on edge.
Hmm … I expect I’ll just keep calling it “The Bank”.
Twins rained out tonight.
I was just about to ask someone to cover the gamelog too.
get the game log tarp out.
just paid for parking, too
Probably expect a Reusse follow-up column, my radar is showing doodly squat for rain in Minneapolis the rest of the night.

My favorite sports moment this weekend!
