Nolan Jones' three-run homer broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth for the Clippers.

Batting stars:  Damek Tomscha was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, his sixth.  Mark Contreras was 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs, and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Kody Funderburk struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up no hits but six walks.  Derek Molina struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.  Ryan Shreve struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a hit.  Melvi Acosta retired all four men he faced, striking out two.

Opposition stars:  Jordan Diaz was 2-for-4.  Zach Rafuse pitched two perfect innings, striking out one.

The Mighty Mussels led 8-4 going to the bottom of the ninth, but surrendered five runs to lose it.  The tying run was walked in and the deciding run scored on an error.

Pitching star:  Louie Varland struck out five in 4.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Jordan Walker was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Matt Koperniak was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.  Todd Lott was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Good statsErik Manoah, Jr. allowed a run in two innings and has an ERA of 1.00.  Varland has an ERA of 1.98.
