Got home last night. UW is a mensch who totally saved us a bunch of time, money, and headache minding the car for us while we were gone.
The jetlagged children being up at 4AM Minnesota time leaves something to be desired.
Yesterday's CoC about vaccinations brings to mind a phenomenon that I have been seeing around my parts. I have never wavered on my stance that everyone should get vaccinated. However, I have a lot of friends and family in the area who have changed from a "You can't make me" stance, to now a "I just don't get why people don't just get vaccinated" point of view. Really? Do they really think that I have such short term memory issues that they can totally flip flop on an issue and pretend like they didn't? The good news, is they are changing their way of thinking. The bad news is it usually took a near death experience for themselves, or losing a loved one to Covid for them to wake up.
This fits my overhauled pandemic worldview that, and I mean this in the kindest way possible, we are simple, fickle, malleable, self-interested creatures and our brains are here to serve our emotional wellbeing first, and foremost, and all the philosophy, art, grandiose culture and society-building is a happy accident. Beg pardon of those consistent, rational, and clear-headed among us.
Pardon granted.
I think this is an accurate and relatively clear-eyed assessment of the human condition. My surprise is that I can agree so easily & that it doesn’t even seem overly pessimistic.
It's just sad it takes death/near-death for a change of heart
My mom told me this week that someone a couple years older than me from my hometown of 100 just died after three weeks in the hospital. Sad, but not surprised.
I'm guessing that's how this changes. The people that can lie to themselves in the face of all evidence to the contrary will also lie to themselves about their previous beliefs.
Had to look up where Leroy / Ostrander is located. Now I'm off to see if there isn't some streaming site to watch the 10AM state championship game. Go Falcons!
Well, they had a good season .
Better than my senior year (although we finished ranked 4th in state). Sure is nice to no longer be in Mahnomen's division anymore
I had no hopes of the Wolves pulling out the win but DLo was a man possessed
He shot 10-13 with 6 threes from the beginning of the fourth quarter on. The Wolves win despite having Philly shooting 23 more FTs. Huge win. Also DLo stole the ball with about 10 seconds left and got the game winning assist. A fabulous game by him.
That was one of the worst refereed games I have ever seen. I wonder if the front office do a comparison of how much contact KAT receives and doesnt get a call and what Joel Embiid receives and gets a call and sends it to whomever in the NBA offices to get an explanation.

Quite a basketball game in Philly tonight.
