Dogs, man.
This is Tinsley. She was in a car accident with her humans last night. She escaped the wreckage, got the attention of police, and led them all the way back to the site of the crash. Her humans are being treated and expected to survive. Tinsley is awarded our very rare… 15/10 pic.twitter.com/E3HRQf0sF3

Apparently, winter doldrums have set in. You Midwestern types can't get out of bed to put a pot on.
My wife informed me that winter was over, she'd had enough. So there you have it.
Did she get her winter booster?
We're all going to get a nice shot of winter for a couple days, here.
Our school district has announced 3 weeks of asynchronous learning January 10-28. I just wish I knew whether this is really going to be for 3 weeks or whether we're looking at another extended period with kids out of school.
Pete's school doesn't start until next week. I'm waiting for a similar announcement.
Our kids are back this week. So far, so good, but where waiting for all the shoes to start dropping.
Re: Pepper, 3 weeks? 3 weeks might be the thick of it. Hopefully not that much longer, though. If activities and work and society are all going full-blast (if hobbled), I don't see how the schools solve much in three weeks.
We're back in-person, on day 3. IIRC, Day 3 after break last year was when Philosofette subbed for the teacher who was getting tested for Covid and then... bam.
The district here informed parents after business hours on Thursday, December 30th, that schools would not open as scheduled on Monday, January 3rd, and that the district would be going fully online once classes resume on Thursday, January 6th. For now, the Poissonnière’s class will be synchronous, which poses some challenges of its own for parents. We have received more frequent & detailed communication from her teacher than the district or the school. We are supposed to get an update from the district today about its plans for next week & beyond. If students are back in schools before February, I’ll have to look for recipes for the best way to cook a hat.
This guy 👆🏼 gets it … or as the kids are saying, “He understood the assignment.”
My employer just announced a booster is required to keep your employment status (or every other day pcr tests … if you can find one… ). They’ve also announced that we should be working from home as much as possible which is not possible in my case. They’ve also announced that kn95 and n95 masksa are required for on-site work. Of course they’re not providing masks…
Whoa. Not messing around.
HQ has everyone more or less working from home again for the time being. Meanwhile my coworkers are saying us long distance telecommuters are required to come in, though. Ha ha (jerks).
Th (K)N95 mask requirement comports with what I’ve read in recent interviews with infectious disease specialists. Fortunately, it seems like they can be reused a few times before being discarded, and are in (for now anyway) adequate supply.
I’m not surprised an employer is going to foist the cost of purchasing mandated models of masks on employees, although it seems like that’s setting an expectation for a uniform that one should at least receive an allowance to maintain. (What do I know, though. My only experience with uniforms has been in fine dining, where they were provided by a vendor contracted by my employer, and via clothing allowances from the Department of Defense, which is the country’s premier socialist organization.)
Required but not provided. Unreimbursed business expenses.
To tax forms I go.
Don't bother.
The vast majority of W-2 workers can’t deduct unreimbursed employee expenses in 2020. The Tax Cut and Jobs Act (TCJA) eliminated unreimbursed employee expense deductions for all but a handful of protected groups.
Yup.
Or you incorporate yerself and contract your services to your employer.... Hah.
to the tax lawyers I go.
(I can do this all day)
An American who served in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War is buried in Cokato

He lived a long life. I wonder if he left behind any journals or gave an oral history.
There are Polar Bear Expedition veterans buried in various cemeteries across the Upper Midwest, with a large concentration near Detroit. I’d like to visit one of the main cemeteries if I’m ever out that way.
