I've been hurt too much in the past to have any actual hope, but this is a really fun Wolves team and I really like them.

I missed last night's game, but I've said it before and I'll say it again: Jarred Vanderbilt is a joy to watch and quickly becoming one of my favorite Wolves in franchise history. Also, D'lo must be really buying into Finch because he was awful to watch last year but is playing much more efficiently this year.
I didnt think the Wilfs had the guts to sack Spielman but glad they did.
YYYYAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS! Needed this today Mags! 11/10 would watch that mustache again.
With those glasses, he almost looks like Craig Finn in a ridiculous disguise
I thought it was him until I played the video!
Hey, that's the guy backing this other guy I like!
It felt like that was the first time that crowd had heard the song.
Can I suggest an alternative for the Nate Mercereau track? I know the one listed has the same title as the one I selected for the video, but it’s a studio recording. I’d rather the playlist reflect one of the duets he recorded with the Golden Gate Bridge than have it be the studio track from his other album that be performed live for the video. It was the unusual accompaniment that prompted me to select one of his tracks; that video was simply the video of a live performance available to me.
If that’s cool, I’d suggest “Duet 1“ from the Duets | Golden Gate Bridge album.
Of course!
Thanks!
(what'd he charge you?)
This morning I've had any combination of two doe and a coyote zipping back and forth across the back yard here. Pretty sure the coyote is in over his head, but he's enjoying the thrill of the chase.
I recently moved and my dog has been catching squirrels and rabbits left and right in the new back yard. They don't even see it coming when he jumps over the porch bench and between them and the fence. He caught one when the SO let him out, tossed it straight up into the air, and then met her in the yard triumphant with his feat of strength.
I was proud because there will be tomatoes to protect next year and the neighbors feed the squirrels (and so rabbits too)
Do you contract out?
Its hilarious because growing up we had 6ish game dogs (German Wirehairs, a shorthair and a poodle pointer [which is neither?]) so I'm used to this.
Rush is a runt Shorthair but hasn't had any prey drive and because he's a rescue has a lot of timid tendencies. So this is a real adventure. If I have to pick up the rodents so be it. :Stock Rising Emoji:
California governor currently live-streaming his budget presentation. Projected $45.7 billion "surplus" this year*. More than half is earmarked for existing, constitutional requirements (e.g., increased K-14 spending, rainy day fund set-aside), but still, a projected $20.6 B general fund surplus (relative to status quo spending, I think). There are going to be a whole bunch of "one-time" expenditures.
*Minnesota's entire general fund budget is on the order of $52 billion
you should request a pay raise
"Hey, Gav! Can I get $20?"
that thought has crossed my mind.
Or send some cash down river. er, well, nevermind.
I received a call around midnight last night. Actually, my wife did from an acquaintance that she knows better than I do. She wouldn't have answered normally but picked up after the third call then gave me the phone. It's a little difficult to explain but long story short this acquaintance had discovered that a co-worker of mine had committed suicide. He knows I work for the same company which is why he got in contact with me. They were one of the people from our head office and their family never came to the States, so in a way, the company is kind of his family here which is why I got the call. Strange to try to explain that to the police. Most of the office doesn't know yet so it's weird to see things going on normally when this is waiting to hit. Just a horrible situation for everyone.
That's horrible to hear. I hope your work family can find their way through the loss.
I haven't said anything to this point, but I found out Saturday evening that my sister's oldest son committed suicide. One of his brothers called with the sad news. I'd seen him once last year, and he seemed fine, like always. He was ~35, and I know there were some anger issues at times, but this was a total surprise to us all. Certainly the pandemic has to be hard on people suffering mentally.
My condolences to you both
Oof.
So sorry for you both, and for the families.
awful news for both of you.
Ugh. Sorry to you both.
Both situations are in our prayers.
I've been in my new job for five weeks now. This morning I ate breakfast and checked email and learned the company is being acquired. I'm still trying to digest it.
Breakfast?
Ah, in that scenario I am a battle tested veteran. This job and the last job were with companies that were each acquired twice within one calendar year. Good times!
I worked for the same consulting company for many years, but it had several names during that time, sometimes it was public and other times privately owned, merged, retuned to the original name...strap in and enjoy the ride
I didn't have a choice the first time it happened to me as the facility I was in was being shut down. The next job it happened with I was planning to ride it out (because I enjoyed the job) until Honeywell came around. Honeywell can get bent. This time I'm hoping to ride it out mainly because it'll probably be tough to find something that will be as WFH flexible (i.e. not pay attention to whether I'm in the office or not) and because we had so many people from my team leave that I can't be let go.
A little over a year ago my wife worked for TCF Bank, then for a few months she worked for Chemical Bank of Michigan, and now she works for Huntington Bank based in Ohio. Consolidate, consolidate, dance to the music.
There are a number of things that aren't great about working in the nonprofit sector - non and profit being two of them - but there are some things that are great about working for the nonprofits....
so, we got a letter from Ma Bell saying that our interwebs was being upgraded for free*
*sort of. We go from 100Mps (I think our service was technically the 75 Mps, but we were getting around 100) to 500, the price goes from like $45 plus stuff (actually, around $53, I think) to $65 BUT there's a $35/mo "promotion" that continues forevs, bringing us back down to $30 (plus stuff, undoubtedly).
All very straightforward as mud. I guess I will take it. Yea, quasi-competition. Waiting for other shoes to drop. Upgrade is scheduled for thursday this week.
