  2. Over the winter there was an twitter fight on whether the line is Mary's dress "waves" or "sways." Apparently in the original album lyrics it says waves (which doesn't really make a lot ofsense). However, a number of people close to Springsteen said that it is sways. In this version, he obviously sings sways. I think only a few deadenders still contend that the word is waves.

    1. "waves" as in a flag, perhaps?

      I can also imagine that was teh original lyric, then after the sheets were all printed up after awhile he went "Oh dip, 'sways' works way better" and changed it going forward
