Rookie Joe Ryan gets the ball on opening day for the Twins, the first rookie to start opening day for the team since 1969 apparently. Robbie Ray goes for the Mariners, who are supposed to be much improved. If Joe Ryan can be the pitcher the Twins hope, he could be very exciting to watch.
Locked-in-to-a-long-term-deal Byron Buxton will lead off for the hometown 9, to be followed by newly signed Carlos Correa. Beyond being cool that they're the top two picks from the 2012 draft, I simply can't think of a more exciting 1-2 punch in baseball. Plus, I have a feeling Correa is going to be an improvement from Adrelton Simmons.
The grass is green, hope springs eternal, and 162-0 is still a possibility. Let's go Twins!
I can see myself sliding over the local baseball card shop once work is over and catching the TV broadcast there. Win/win/win!
I've got the game on the
televisionradioradiovision (Audacy app) in my office.MLB radio here
With as long as Tony O. & Kaat waited to be inducted, it sure would have been nice for the broadcast to actually show them throwing out the first pitch instead of simply seeing it on the Jumbotron in the background behind Richard & Morneau.
Mrs Runner comes to the mound with a cup of hot cocoa -- nice!
I think Sano missed the base
Ump rules in the Twins favor.
looks like it's going to be one of those seasons for the umps [shrug.gif]
Leave us not look a gift horse in the kisser.
Sure looked like it on the second angle.
Man, having the umpire do NFL-style announcements is weird.
Kind of nice on the radio, though.
I was working the game last year when Joe Ryan made his debut. He had his whole family and a sizeable entourage of fans that made the trip from California (I think?). Several of them were sitting in my section out in centerfield. They made some big promises. We'll see.
Nice pick by Correa!
Bet Kepler’s tricep is stinging a bit in that cold.
That's three true outcomes to start the third inning.
Well, that’s unfortunate.

Making us all forget about Isiah Kiner-Falefa!
uHRshela!
oooooooooh,Duran
Ahahahahaha, awesome
Now would be a good time for Jeffers to give Duran a second to compose himself.
There we go. One at a time.
And another, and another
Duran — A View to a K.
print it!
Hearing about some of the, ugh, rough commentary in the AL Central, it sure is nice to hear Morneau on the broadcast.
Can't complain about the pitching we've had today.
I can complain about the pitching the Mariners have had today, though.
Man I love Luis
Oh, wow.
with bat flip
Forgot he left the bandbronx
We'll just have to settle for 161-1!
Had the game on mute, thought Sanchez won the game. Dang so close
Montas gave up five runs in five innings and Berríos surrendered four runs while only getting a single out.
The 1998 Yankees started 0-3
And split the next two to start 1-4. They lost only two more games that month.
Meanwhile in Arizona, Manaea threw seven hitless innings and Taylor Rogers got his first save for the Padres.
