I think there are some Everton fans here and was wondering if anyone was interested in going to the MNUFC-Everton game on Wednesday.? It will be warm. Right now I can get "seats" in the supporters section for $45 each but I think I can get some for cheaper. Let me know.
I'm going to be in the front row down by where the Everton subs warm up (opposite the Wonderwall).
Rocco in fourth place for CBS' midseason awards AL Manager of the Year poll is enough to blow most of Twins Daily commenter's minds.
Let’s just say I can tell when a close relative has done too much reading in that site’s comments. Between that and the continued promotion of a couple of certified ding-dongs, I simply can’t read things over there anymore.
The Mariners have won 14 games in a row and have only gained 4.5 games in the standings
I remember the last time the Twins drafted a Lee in the first round. It was a travis-ty.
Ah, but they signed WGOM Legend Matt LeCroy with a 1999 Round 1 supplemental pick thanks to the previous draft’s Travisty. The real pain comes two years later, when they drafted Ryan Mills instead of Gardy-era southpaw nemeses Captain Cheeseburger, Cliff Lee, Barry Zito, or Buehrle. Mills doesn’t even have a Respository page…but his Arizona School of Baseball bio states
He was then drafted in the first round by the Minnesota Twins and played 7 seasons with them.
As my grad school advisor would say, “Literally untrue.”
How the hell did he get promoted to AAA after stinking at New Britain for 2+ seasons? They switched him to the bullpen and still no success.
There clearly was something they liked about him, but looking at his stats, it's sure hard to figure out what it was.
His ability to save wear & tear on other arms?
Got me looking at the 1999 1st round draft and wow there is not a lot of success there.
Twins went back to back years with their 1st rounder not making it to the bigs Woof.
Ugh, B.J. Garbe! You might as well throw in 2000’s #2 overall pick Adam Johnson, who “made it” to the majors in the form of -1.0 rWAR over 26.1 innings.
And then they didn’t draft USC’s elite starter with the first overall pick the next year…
7 rWAR at age 22!
IIRC, Mills's father held himself out as some sort of pitching guru (he may have been a pitching coach somewhere). I think his dad created a Tom Emanskiesque video about pitching mechanics that he advertised in print.
Rob Manfred doesn’t have the courage of his zombie runner convictions and instead wants to send the All-Star Game to a 3-player, 3-swing home run derby if it’s tied after nine?
Why not just put a carnival dunk tank full of nacho cheese & dip spit on home plate, set Manfred on the seat, and have players from each team take turns trying to hit the target from the warning track? First team to dunk him three times wins, but really everyone goes home happy.
I've generally been supportive of this year's All-Star Game changes, but this is too much. MLB needs to lean into the exhibition part of the Game and be flexible with the rules, provided the rules remain as baseball. Letting a hitter stay in after he leaves as a pitcher is okay, and letting a catcher return to the game because it's an exhibition is okay, because that's all still baseball. Likewise the same thing for the Home Run Derby needs to lean into the spectacle and do what's necessary to manufacture excitement. But the two should remain separate.
I may have suggested on another platform that a sausage race would make more sense.
If I knew how to do WGOM bucks, that would get one.
He who is wurst is first!? Frank discussions, folks.
Not sure why MLB app thought I needed a new reminder or alternative report notification on some aspect of the HR derby every 20 minutes or more. Knock it off already
I'm wearing Brooks shoes. Does that count?
Gloop.

He does have a baseball-reference page. Woof.
