It took 106 pitches, but by gum, a Twins pitcher made it through six innings!

I was up in the rarified heights last night, covering about six sections on the first base side because we were short staffed. As guests were leaving after the game an older woman in Giants togs looked up at me and said, "Well, that was one miserable game." To which I replied, "Depends on your point of view. We lost six in a row before tonight." She reached out and put a hand on my arm and said with something approaching empathy, "Six games? That's just terrible," and then walked on. I wanted to laugh a lot harder than I did.
Looking at the schedule, there is ample opportunity for the Twins to take back the lead and win this division, assuming they up their game. We'll have to navigate through the BoSox and Yankees, but we have a lot of division games left, including eight head-to-head with Cleveland, five of them in a four day series at the Jake. My wife likes to remind me that we fell in love during a pennant race, so I went and took a look at where the '87 team was at this point in their season. On August 28th that year, the Twins were 67-63 (.515) and tied for first place in the division. They finished their last dozen games of August with a 9-3 record, then went 16-11 in September and built a six game lead before dropping a few at the end and taking the division title by two games. Today the Twins are three games back with only a slightly worse record at 63-61 (.505) and with 38 games left to play. So things could be a lot worse.
I'll be at two of the games at the Jake.
Home series starts September 9th, I'll be working all three games. Are you doing the double header?
I'm going Saturday night and Monday afternoon. RnR HoF on Sunday. Taking my dad.
Twins on network tv tonight! well sort of, they get bumped to FOX+ so FOX can show a glorified scrimmage football game
Or the alternate game has the Cardinals
We're getting the Twins on FOX here.
Another successful Pike & Pint visit. Had a quick pint with zooomx himself. My only regret was that I couldn't stay longer.
I was happy to see you and to have the opportunity to partake in a pint with you!
Now with family up yonder, I hope to have more reasons to be able to drop in (and for more than 15 minutes)
It is kind of interesting that several WGOM'ers have family that have moved to the area. I am pretty cool with that!
Your joint is on my list of places to make sure to hit once I move up in December. No idea when, but I’m sure I can find some time to make it up from the cities over the 6 months or so I’ll be there.
I'm down for meeting up whenever that might be if possible too
