We moved Mom A to the Gettysburg nursing home Wednesday, and I have to say things are going at least as well as I could have hoped. She took the two hundred mile trip very well--she was a little tired when we got here, but after she had some coffee she perked back up again. She likes the staff and is making friends with a few other residents. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers--they have been effective.
That's good to hear.
Here's to her continuing to do well in her new surroundings.
Glad to hear the road trip and getting settled in her new digs went well. A long move like that is no small feat at any age.
My wife's family moving their mom from her home of 50 years in Coon Rapids to a facility in Annandale last weekend. It's not an easy move to make, I'm glad it went well for your mother.
That move to Annandale isn't easy for anyone regardless of age or health condition.
Technically, we have a Maple Lake address, so there!
Twayn, hit me up if you're visiting Mom and want to get a pint at Spilled Grain.
We have a niece with three daughters who lives just a few miles from the facility so she'll get to visit them quite a bit, and the wife's sister has a model home not far away so she'll probably have more company now than she did in the house. But the house was real convenient for us to visit, just over the river and through the woods.
Headed to Galena earlier this week for the Vintage Triumph annual national car show. So far 3 members of our traveling party have tested positive for covid, including myself. So, ended up driving home yesterday and missing out on the actual car show. I feel like I have a summer cold, sore throat & sniffles. My wife and I are going to do another self test today and see what that says. The one person who started it all tested positive, went to the doctor and was told he wasn't, and then got home and tested positive again. I'm losing faith in the home test kits.
Sounds like the home kits got it right and the doctor got it wrong. Also, that sounds like an awesome event and I'm sorry you had to miss it.
That did sound like a cool event. Galena is such a picturesque little town. Bummer you missed the cars.
Twins have $9 tickets on sale for the Sox and Royals and $14 seats for the Guardians and Angels. Competition for sporting/entertainment attention starts heating up this time of year. At BWW the other night there were 8 guys with laptops at a table doing a fantasy draft.
I haven't watched much baseball at all over the last few years, but $15 to say I saw Trout & Ohtani might be worth it
Twins: Gio Urshela, 3B
Fun fact about Urshela: He has a higher OPS than not only Isiah Kiner-Falefa, one of the MLB players he was traded for, but also Josh Donaldson, the other one.
I doubt (don’t know) if the numbers bear it out, but it feels like the Twins are getting what they expected, maybe a bit more, from Urshela. The challenge is they’re getting the non-resurgent Sanchez and a day-old-donut version of Correa - still pretty good, and mostly pleasing, but not exactly the freshest.
I agree with you on much of this. Urshela has been what I expected and I love that he puts together solid at bats in big moments. Correa is so over due for a few "signature" moments in which he comes up with the key hit to win a game. I still think he will have a couple of those, but man are we running out of games for it to happen. I did not have big expectations for Sanchez. He has had a moment or two, but I do not think the Twins hoped he would have to catch as many games as he has. The fact that Donaldson has laid an egg in New York makes the trade seem a bit better than expected.
Sadly, I didn't see Scully at the Fair yesterday
