It's kind of old school since I listen to new stuff via streaming and typically don't save in my library.

    1. Yeah, I'm starting to get to the point where I'm considering streaming the new stuff. I keep putting off "physically" adding albums into my library.

    1. There was a great thread on the Tweeter recently (RIP...?) on just how flimsy the structure of all our IT is. Stories of people finding old, random computers in closets, unplugging them, and having entire networks crash to the ground.

      1. A few years back we converted an enterprise system from COBOL to Java. I predict it will finally move to the cloud a few years before I retire (assuming I get to retire).

        1. Maybe I can get a new job! I actually took a FORTRAN course at Spamtown CC back in the day (and a PASCAL course at Carleton, although I guessing that one isn't worth as much).

  7. What a spectacular fall for this guy. Amazing and sad.

    1. It’s always impressive to see someone pull off the Darin Erstad 1b-to-CF progression on the defensive spectrum.

Bellinger & Matt Kemp didn’t overlap on the Dodgers’ roster, but they sure can commiserate.

Hopefully he gets a fresh start somewhere and can get his career back on track. He’s still two years younger than Sanó.

  8. Not my music, but my Spotify daily mix

The Gaslight Anthem - "American Slang"
The Menzingers - "I Can't Seem To Tell
Less Than Jake - "The Ghosts of Me And You"

Reliant K - "Sadie Hawkins Dance"

    1. The Twin Cities uniform has a little of the Saints’ look to it, which isn’t bad. But since the uniform says Twin Cities and looks inspired by the Saints’ script, I wish they’d used an M that references the Minneapolis Millers for their caps. But I like the reference to "L'Étoile du Nord" on the M cap, even if I don't care for the M itself.

      1. I wish they’d used an M that references the Minneapolis Millers for their caps.

I was saying this she thing to a friend yesterday. Missed opportunity.

    2. They're not horrible, but they're not exactly to my taste, either. I'll get used to them, and at least the gold is gone.

      1. Yes, too Marlins-y. Of course, I really like that logo, so... maybe it's the right direction at least?

    3. I'm digging all of these, but I'm not completely convinced on the M hat, and I'm mourning the loss of the serifs on the TC logo. I always felt like the old script "Twins" was a little too narrow and weak, but this new one seems to fix all of that. The Minnesota just looks bold across the front of both, and I love the idea of the Twin Cities script, though I think that uniform could use a little something more since it's a little too plain - maybe piping around the collar?

All-in-all, I seriously approve. I had been anxious about things going back to the old 80's & 90's stuff, which I never loved. This is so much better than I anticipated.

    * My owned digital library is mostly pre-2010 stuff. Most of my newly-purchased stuff is vinyl, though some of that came with download codes. I've very recently started picking up CDs again, highlighted by buying 300 random discs on spindles for cheap. (I should write about this sometime.) Some of those discs have made it into my digital library and thus into this list. Generally I wouldn't say the music from those stacks are in my must-own list.

  12. List from my most-recently played pandora shuffle:

Real Love Baby – Father John Misty
    Santeria – Sublime
Never Been To Spain – Elvis Presley
Birdhouse In Your Soul – TMBG
The Lion Sleeps Tonight – The Tokens

    Samson – Regina Spektor
    Liquid – Jars of Clay
    Pinch Me – BNL
Unchained Melody – The Righteous Brothers
Wish You Were Here – Pink Floyd

Bonus: God Only Knows – Beach Boys

    1. Ooh, that Elvis Track is from Elvis as from Madison Square Garden. A pretty good representation of early 70's Elvis.

      1. I've always been an Elvis fan, but it was usually more of his early, studio stuff. The more I've heard of later and live Elvis, the more I've enjoyed. Especially since seeing the Baz Luhrman flick.

    1. So the infield is Miranda at first, Polanco at second, Arraez at third, and somebody at short until Lewis is healthy.

      1. So the infield is Miranda at first, Polanco at second, Correa at short, and Arraez at third until Lewis is healthy.

        Eh?

          1. Meh. Thirty-two years old. Became a regular two years ago at age thirty. Career slash line of .254/.311/.393. Plays mostly short, although he's played all around the infield and even caught a handful of games. Looks to me like he's not going to hurt you, but he's not going to help you a whole lot, either.

                1. Urshela vs lefties

                  2022: 291/335/439
                  Career: 283/323/441

For an extra $3m or so, they could have kept him and played him against both eighties and lefties.

    2. He’s a lower-level developmental flier who’ll need to be added to Minnesota’s 40-man roster or be exposed to the Rule 5 draft at the end of the 2023 season.

This is not encouraging. It seems like they sold low.

  13. Looks like Hidalgo be twenty next year. Two years in the low minors, 4.64 ERA in 66 innings. Strikes out 12.1 per nine, walks 3.8 per nine. Whether he'll ever be something is anyone's guess.

  14. 1. Greg Porter “Be Good” – Be good
    2. Coldplay "A Sky Full of Stars" – Ghost Stories
    3. Mark Foster – “Wir sind groß” - Tape
    4. Gaelic Storm – “Never drink ‘Em Dry (Johnny Tarr’s Funeral)" – Bring Yer Wellies
    5. Lake Street Dive – “I Want You Back” - Fun Machine
    6. Twenty one Pilots – “Level of Concern” –Level of Concern
    7. Oceanator – “Baby Won’t You” – Oceanator
    8. Kings of Leon – “The Bandit” – When you See Yourself
    9. Ziynet Sali – "Bana da Söyle" - Single
    10. Jack Ingram, Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall – “In His Arms” - The Marfa Tapes
