We're supposed to maybe get six inches here!!! Crazy...

These last two storms combined have dropped about 12-14 inches of snow on us. Last week it was the wet, heavy stuff, this time it's light and fluffy. Since I do the shoveling and don't build snowmen, I prefer light and fluffy.
I'm hoping the wind today clears off most of our driveway so my snow blowing before the more snow is easier.
We live on the north end of town and every winter the wind whips sideways across our driveway depositing a large drift a quarter of the way down the driveway. Between that and the compacted stuff from the plow at the end, we're pretty much always digging out at least twice. The upside is that the wind does take care of the middle section of the driveway pretty well.
Hopefully every one makes it through warm and power intact
We still have power (so far), but a couple of neighboring towns do not. It's currently -16 with a wind chill of -50.
At that temp it doesn't take but a breeze to drop the wind chill quite a bit. I was out clearing snow and playing Frisbee with the dog today when it was -5 with a -27 wind chill but the wind was very light, you could only feel it when you faced it.
Hey, it's cold here too, and I've been raking lots of leaves!
The Tweeter has really pumped up their promoted ads today. However, after a years long ad blocking campaign, as well as what I assume is a lack of paying customers, I'm getting some interesting results from the bottom of the barrel. Regardless, back in the bin they go.
(Just in case, I'm realizing the sarcastic nature of this post's body may not have come across...)
sarcasm aside, we only got about 3-4 inches down here but its windy enough that we're postponing curling tonight.
0° here currently and an inch on the ground, but the wind has picked up. Getting the mail is going to be the only outing tomorrow.
Well, the plowed snow at the bottom of the driveway killed my snow blower, the auger drive broke and I'm not going to fix it, I've nursed this second-hand machine through enough winters. Between you and me and the fence post it's probably just a shear pin (shhhhh!) but the wife said I could buy a new one and it will be ready for curbside pickup at Home Depot after 5:00pm. The one I wanted was out of stock, so I got permission to upgrade for a hundred bucks and got the model with the heated handles. I think it's close enough to call this one a Festivus miracle.
What is this snow and why does it need to be blown?
Hey, this is a family basement.
You know you are middle aged when you get excited about a snowblower.
I actually enjoy the task of removing snow from my driveway. However, this year, my 19 year old snow blower (a Murray purchase at Fleet Farm that experience ZERO preventative maintenance) finally died on me. For the first time in my life, I contracted someone to plow out my driveway at my house. There was a bit of remorse, but with how busy my life is right now, it is a blessing.
