At Children's Hospital this morning so that Aristotle can have a surgery. It's outpatient, and not really that big a deal (a pacemaker-like device targeting a specific nerve cluster). But it's still surgery and as her dad, I'm terrified. And she's pretty anxious too. So prayers for skilled surgeons and peace are appreciated.
Many prayers. Keeping Aristotle in my thoughts. Any surgery is scary.
I used to have a Peanuts strip in which Snoopy had injured a knee (playing hockey iirc) and opined that "minor surgery is one that happens to someone else." That stuck with me.
Praying for a safe, successful procedure and recovery. Best of luck.
Thinking good thoughts.
I hope everything goes smoothly!
Hope it goes smoothly!
I’d be equally terrified. I hope all went well.
Indeed. Good vibes for you and yours.
Best wishes for a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!
Back home, and all went well. Follow up surgery next Friday. Thanks for all the wishes and prayers!
Great news!
Getting tabs for the car on the last business day of the year is an ungood experience.
Same with getting glasses.
Tabs Pro-tip: You can order them online or via a check in the mail and they typically arrive within days. I'll never go to the DMV again for Tabs.
That was Plan A. Then came work, holidays, procrastination, illness, and Plan B.
Oops! My new tabs came in the mail have been on the kitchen island since early December. Perhaps I should put them on the car?
I got a ticket for that once, while parked in the semi-secret free street parking I used to use for Angels games. So much for saving money on parking…
I'm seeing a number of ballots that vote for Beltran but not ARod. I don't get it.
The writers really hate roids that led to homers
But they're ok with banging garbage cans? I don't agree with the writers but I'm just asking for consistency.
Spent the afternoon looking at cars :/ Mrs Runner's car is on it's way out, so we're kicking around options. She's been looking at a RAV4, and I pointed her at a Bolt EUV. Her two requirements are a car that sits up a bit, and seat warmers (and a powered lift jack would be nice), while mine is something with better mileage. I've convinced her that although an EV isn't ideal for road trips, you can rent a vehicle for road trips (with much more room than a RAV4 for example) and still come out $$$ ahead. It's nice we don't need something immediately...
Not on the ev spectrum but I just bought a used Subaru forester. I’m super impressed with the vehicle for a variety of reasons (high clearance for water… because third world city….) but the gas mileage is not great.
Runner family currently each has a hybrid, but Mrs Runner would really benefit from an EV based on her driving patterns. We're not set up for fast charging, but we also have no need for anything beyond level one charging speed.
I remember my aunt back in the day was anti-Japanese imports, so my uncle convinced her to get a good Swedish car instead - a Subaru 🤣
Got a Forester 6-7 years ago, it's the most reliable vehicle we have every owned.
I've been looking for a replacement for the minivan but with both of us working from home there's no pressing need to pull the trigger. I'll probably wait until after the wedding to deal with it. The Town and Country is rusty and ugly and high mileage but those 3.8L engines are almost indestructible and it's still good enough for a second vehicle that gets very little use.
Wolves have played a good half against the Bucks so far tonight, and the uniforms are very confusing.
Second half not as good...
Not so much in the second half.
I finally got around to watching the first episode of Moon Knight today. I've heard that the series is not very satisfying, but, boy, that first episode was good.
I felt like it was okay, overall. More interesting source material than a lot of other comics, but targeted a bit too young. I feel like Netflix's Marvel approach would have done it more justice than Disney's.
I also watched the first two episodes of Daredevil , which are now on Disney+. Gritty and dark. The lead characters are interesting, so far.
Is that the old Netflix one? It was very well done. Season 2 wasn't as good, but Season 3 was genuinely some of the most intense TV I ever watched - I compared the intensity with Breaking Bad.
Yes. Disney+ yanked it from Netflix.
Cool. Get to season 3.
Two more episodes in. Vincent D'Onofrio is fantastic and scary.
