Still waiting for sean to find a way to boost engagement on my LTEs...

Sandwiches: discuss.
Proven discussion makers: sandwiches, automatic runner in extra innings, word games, and every day carry items.
what if automatic runners were forced to care sandwiches everyday?
side note: NYT continues to propagate the "ghost runner" term :/
The NYT needs an explainer on the differences between ghosts and zombies, I guess.
…and every day carry items.
Come to think of it, have we ever had a conversation about flashlights here?
A quick search says no. There have been 18 LTEs in the history of this site that mention "flashlight".
wait, you mean the flashlight app on my cellphone??
is the Manfred Man really a sandwich?
It's a Manwich.
I can see this term entering the WGOM lexicon
"The Twins have a great chance to win here with the hot-handed Correa leading off the bottom of the tenth and Byron Buxton as the Manwich."
Wouldn't it technically be a "Fredwich"?
Everyday carry! I’ve recently - read in the last 2 years - switched my every day carry pocket knife from a case sod buster to a compact Milwaukee fastback utility knife. Despite daily abuse, the locking mechanism and blade holder have held up extremely well.
I don't carry one with me, but Milwaukee's compact version of the fastback utility knife is very nice. It has a great feel to it. They tweaked the full size version and it's not as good as what they had before.
I keep one of those Milwaukee jobs near the door to the garage for use the night before recycling collection. Makes zipping all the cardboard into flat items a breeze, and I don’t dull my nice folder in the process. I wouldn’t have a use for a utility knife as an EDC blade, but totally see how it would be indispensable for folks.
I also use one for the same purpose and keep it close to the garage. It also doubles as general box opener. Another is in the basement with the rest of the tools, The compact version stays in my office, which is upstairs at the opposite end of the house, for convenience.
I realized that my pocket knife was a liability on the job - I don’t often have the need to slice up an apple at the museum - and that a longer blade is an insurance claim, both artifact and human damage, waiting to happen. Tool of the trade. I feel naked if I don’t have my zip knife on me now. Also travel friendly as I can just toss the blade if I’ve forgotten it in my pocket.
Having said that, the number one most dangerous tool on any job site is the zip knife.

I'd give this a WGOM buck, but contractors cost way more than that.
30 years ago the best man from my wedding gave me a keychain bottle opener with his company's imprint. I finally managed to wear it out so I put a new one in my Christmas stocking this year. I never leave home without it.
Learned this morning from a source inside the Poissonnière’s school that on Monday a kid brought a knife with the intention of stabbing a fellow 1st grader in the Poissonnière’s class. The school has not said word one to parents about the incident.
The principal who began the year created a hostile and intimidating environment for staff and is currently on “temporary leave.” The assistant principal must be in her late twenties and has, near as I can ascertain, no administration experience prior to this assignment. And the superintendent has announced he is retiring “to spend more time with family.”
Woah. What did they do with the kid who brought the knife?
Unknown; my source was not a party to the incident’s resolution. Also unknown is whether the intended victim’s family has been informed. I’d definitely want to reconsider my child’s continued attendance in the school.
The Poissonnière has been dealing with a recurring pattern of bullying by a couple students in her class. Last month she was struck by one of them in front of her teacher. Other than the social worker having a talk with the Poissonnière and her assailant, we have not been told what happened with the student who attacked her.

A couple of weeks ago Harper was having more bad days than good so I ordered some CBD oil for her. I had read about a couple of British studies that showed it can lower inflammation and slow tumor growth in dogs with cancer. She's been on it for a more than week now and it really seems to be helping with pain management. The Carprofen alone just wasn't enough to do the job sometimes and the difference with the CBD added is definitely noticeable. I'm thinking I might get some for myself.
Actual snow fall here in Omaha today. First time I've started up the snowblower in 2 years!

RIP Tim McCarver.
