It's that time of year when someone hits a homer, and you're surprise to see it's the Twins who pick up the runs. Who are these guys??
Back home after a 12 day vacation. Nashville was... meh. Charlotte was... just an overnight hotel stay. Midway, Georgia is 30 minutes south of Savannah and we had a VRBO there for a week. The property was amazing. Caught some crabs in a trap off our pier. Saw a few dolphins right off our pier and during a boat ride around the barrier islands. Wineries west of St. Louis, on the trip home, were pretty good. Better wine than I expected. Overall, it was a fun trip. Had 7 days with our kids in Georgia and 5 days just the two of us driving back and forth. I was pretty disappointed in food pretty much everywhere we went. We hit mostly independent restaurants, but did stop at a few regional chain restaurants. "Local seafood" in Georgia is mostly fried, and when you do order something grilled, it is blah. The one bright spot was a hole in the wall BBQ joint near the Midway exit south of Savannah. It was amazing. The #2-#5 meals on our whole trip were prepared by us at the VRBO. Came back to 3 ft of snow still piled up in my yard and 6 ft banks at the end of my driveway.
My dad will exclusively dine at seafood places on the ocean with super fresh fish and raves about each one
I try to do the same, but my last two trips to Georgia and the Florida Panhandle resulted in uninspired seafood fare. I have had better luck further up the East coast.
My doctor keeps reminding me I don't have enough coconut shrimp in my diet.
Ooooh, rhubarb pie!
