I got to hang out with an Englishman and a Scot recently. I need to do more of that.

I share a cube wall with an extremely Scottish guy who spends most of the day muttering cusses to himself.
When I was at Lawson Software, I used to call the London office or the UK PR agency just to hear those accents.
Elder Daughter's wedding is at a farm and a lot of guests will be camping. So we bought a big glamping tent for the newlyweds and being good parents we set it up yesterday to test it out. We got it decked out with a full height queen airbed, rugs all over the floor, a folding wooden table and chairs, some little folding bedside tables, a fan, interior lights (there's an extension cord pass-through by the door), the works. It was so nice we decided to sleep in it. We had a good night for it, nice cool breeze. But I just went out to retrieve a few things and that tent, when left closed up, gets pretty blazing hot in the sun. I opened all the openings and put the fan on so it should cool down some but it's going to be a hot one today, we might hit 90. At least humidity is fairly low at 45% with a 60 degree dew point. Anyway, we liked sleeping outside so much we might do it again tonight, and we're looking for a good place to go car/tent camping around the end of the month.
10:45 a.m. and it is 88 deg. Headed to 109-110 today.
Something tells me my (late-planted) green beans are not gonna produce much, if anything.
Yeah, overnights in the pit of satan’s armpit have been in the 80s plus a million percent humidity. If only I had the kinda job and capital to live in New Orleans for the winter and Ireland for the summer. Not going to happen, unfortunately.
A sad day here. Our senior kittah has been in long-term decline due to kidney failure. Today we made the decision. Trying to find a way to get our vet to make a house call because putting her in a carrier has always been hugely traumatic. We'd rather not have to do that to her.
Anyway, the Mrs will call our vet in the morning. Hoping to get the deed done tomorrow so she doesn't have to deal with fireworks on Tuesday on top of her other problems.
Friends of ours gave us a referral to a mobile vet that does euthanasia. $375 and up. Yikes.
We did at home euthanasia for Penny. It was very nice and I would not do any other way. It was $460 for the service and communal cremation. Yikes but worth it.
Runner daughter has already looked into it when Belle's time comes. Really the best option if possible.
We had decided on at-home euthanasia for Harper, I was going to call on the Monday after the Sunday she died. We did use the same service to come get her body and do the cremation, a little more expensive but I didn't care about the money. They were very sensitive and deferential and made a miserable experience a little bit easier.
